Unhappy Just when things were becoming somewhat normal....

I was just informed that my buddy who was MIA @ the WTC, his body was just recovered. I should be happy and I am partly because his family has some sort of closure now after 3months. But on the otherhand no, cause it brings up such memories of the recent tradgedies. I don't know how I should feel.

FYI, my buddy was the 1st Asst Chief of my Fire Dept as well as a FDNY firefighter from Squad288(queens). His father, a retired Rescue2 firefighter has been digging for his son's body since the begining, everySINGLE day. Even on Thanksgiving day.

So once again I feel the tears well up in my eyes for my buddy as well all my other friends who've been lost @ the WTC as well.

Do me a favor and say a quick prayer for my friend?

RIP Jonathan Lee Ielpi -Sq288

Okay, I've sat here for 5 minutes so far & I can't really think of anything to say... all I have are feelings. I'm sorry you lost your buddy. At least this tragedy has finally come to an end. I know this probably sounds corny, but he will live on in the heart & soul of NYC forever.

I didn't know him, but RIP and thanks for being a hero.

Unhappy I pray for them all

It is upsetting and in a way it does bring some closure.
I understand how you feel.

My cousin Ricard Guadagno was on Flight 93 and his parents just went to the crash site over the weekend for a memorial service and to go through some of his things that were recovered. His remains have been found, but they have to be tested and all that.
We can't even have a funeral. His parents have been so bad, they can't even handle a memorial service yet.

Every time I'm reminded of what has happened, I still can't believe it, but it makes me just as upset as it did the day it happened.

Whenever I pass an area where I used to see the WTC, I get tears in my eyes. It's like New York is gone.

It's going to take a long time for all of us to recover, but we will... we're strong... we are American

I think of them everyday (and most nights too). Having seen it first hand is not something that is easy to forget. May he RIP, I'll keep him in my thoughts. It's still tough for me.

Thumbs up

Just remember, he is a hero!!!!! He also died doing what he loved, saving lives. Being a firefighter wasnt his job it was his life. I glad to hear his family will have closure.

im glad that the family has found their sons body, he is definitly a hero. chris, i hope you feel better. condolonces to you and his family. it has been a rough last 3 months. but, at the end, we will all look back at memories of this, we will know that we live in country where terror occurs, it might not be relinqueshed, but the US tries its best. for all the people who serve NY as police, firefighters, ambulance, hospital workers etc.. they are our heroes and our silent keepers. thanks to all those who serve. *a small prayer for us and all its people, especially NY*
