Anybody see em yet? Dover Auto World has 2, a turbo and an "S". The quad exhaust on the Turbo is very nice.

I can only wonder what driving an SUV with that much power is like.

Yeah, I was at Ira looking at TT's (for fun) and all of theirs were coming in.

They are a travesty if you ask me. Porsche making an SUV is just as bad as say the Catholic church releasing a porno...

Of course, if I HAD to buy and SUV and I was made of money, I know I'd buy it (or maybe that sexy FX35)...

Caynenne =
I've seen some at a Porsche dealer in NJ.

If I had the money, I would get the G500.

...or I would just buy a much cheaper usedLand Rover Defender... and I almost did instead of the WRX. ...and I would the left over money toward a sports sedan... 540i maybe?

Our family has a Land Rover discovery. Biggest piece of crap ever. Sure the thing can get out of just about any nasty situation (read: under 10 mph), but it's awful to drive on a real road...

The G wagon! Ahh, the rappers delight

I've rented the Disco for a week and I liked it probably more than any other regular SUV I have driven thus far, but would have never buy one. I assume reliablity sux on those, that's why people hate them.

The Defender on the other hand... I've traveled and practically lived in one for a month/7000 miles in southern Africa, it was the 5-door wagon, 110 version. I fell in love w/ it. We also had an old school type (but new) Land Cruiser which was more powerful, more efficent and more relaible... but it didn't have that Land Rover persoanlity.

In the winter, without snow tires, they'll be just as much upside down in the medium as an Explorer.

hahaha

I can see it now.

Some dude gets his stepford wife a Cayenne Turbo. Winter comes and she has no idea what Z rated tires are. Gets on the highway and does the typical "I have an SUV so i can do 70 in a snow storm" trip down I-95. Next thing you know, she's doin 400hp AWD donuts down 95.

I am positive this is gonna happen after seeing a bunch of Old ladies driving around my town in Audi S8s. Why? Why an S8 and not an A8 or A6?

Why not have both? Use the MB for your off-roading trips, and the Porsche for your everyday on-road traveling needs!

Agreed 100%. Porsche had a chance to do something revolutionary, original, but took the path of least resistance to cash in on the $$. Pathetic. What next, a Ferrari SUV? I shouldn't joke.. At least the Lambo LM002 from a zillion years ago was a pissed off, legit machine.. Not some lifestyle crap for spoiled soccer momz..

Make my SUV a late 90s 4-cyl manual shift 4Runner. If I can also have a real car, that's where it's at for me. Nice and ghetto, tons capable off road, more reliable than the rise and set of the sun.

I felt the same way... until I saw the 45 minute long video from Porsche on the car, its features, performance, etc.

It's pretty incredible.

Default I saw a test

of VW Toureg. It climbed quite an incline covered with ice and snow with summer tires.
Testers wrote that it amazed them how capable AWD in VW is.

To ease the pain of looking at Porsche Cayenne think of it as a station wagon. It might help.

Yeah, someone needs to dump a Cayenne on coilovers, then toss some nice rims on it. Make it more wagonesque...

Then again, why didn't they just do something like Audi did with the all-road? That wouldn't have been a lot cooler...
