Hey guys I just finish installing my Defi racer Gauges in my '12 WRX and everything is working fine but I think that my gauges are too dim.

This is how I have my fuses connected:
1) constant 12v-fuse #3 (red cables)
2) swiched 12v-fuse#4 IG2(orange cables)
3) Ilumination-fuse #16 ILM

Do you guys have any Ideas if this is a issue or something I may have done wrong? if is an issue, do you guys have any ideas how to fix it ?

Thanks for all the help in anticipation

were you following the step provided in this thread? i'm pretty sure you're taping the wrong switched fuse

O.C.D.
Constant 12v - Fuse # 3 - DOOR LOCK
Switched 12v - Fuse # 26 - IG2
Illumination/Dimmer - Fuse # 16 - ILLUMINATION

or you could also try

CTSPARKY (STI)
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...1&postcount=80
Orange # 4
Red #24
White #14

both should yeld the same results, i believe i'm using the fuses O.C.D. suggested.

Actually I will take that back, its not working. Here is the thing I disconnect the White cables (Ilumination) from the Fuse tap and started working fine so I cant understand how the gauges are working fine if the White cables are not connected at all to the fuse tap.

Tomorrow I will re-wire all the cables again and replace all the fuse taps and try your sugestions, thanks a lot man I really apreciated.

I'm looking at those fuses but for the switched 12v- Fuse #26 says IG1 on the fuse box. Is that right?

If you guys are having a hard time finding a 12V switched source, use the Cigar fuse. It is also a switched 12V source with the ignition.

OCD thanks for an awesome write up! Followed your directions and I didn't even need the instructions from DEFI.

I think i've read this thread like 20 times and still haven't pulled the trigger on the cluster/gauges.

What's the deal with Defi being so much more expensive? Is it more accurate? Is the color matching better? Is it manufactured with higher quality parts/longer life?

I'm just trying to wrap my head around why they would be so much more expensive than the prosport white needles.

yeah I have a defi boost gauge and I'm still trying to wrap my head around why I didn't buy 2 prosport or rallitek gauges and an SMY cluster for close to the same price as the one defi gauge.

It is very nice though, obviously well made and very responsive. Seriously though if I get a defi oil pressure gauge and the cluster that will be something like $650-$700 in gauges and pods where as prosport with white needles would be under $350, even less with red needles

Because you opted for quality? Prosport gauge is not even close to the quality of Defi gauge. I've owned prosports before and they're not bad exterior wise. It's the hit or miss reliability. I am currently using MadDad gauges and they're very nice. The adjustable day and night time intensity is what makes them really cool. I can match the illumination brightness to my interior setting. Defi is yet another step up from that. Your logic is flawed because you're assuming that you'd get an equivalent from pro sport that you have now from Defi and that is not true.

Again...this doesn't really answer the question of why Defi is far and away superior.

Celery--when you say responsive, are you suggesting that the prosports would show some "lag" when giving readouts?

It seems to come down to a reliability/QC issue...are there instances of cheaper gauges just straight up failing?

The defi gauges look sick, but I think it's because of xluben's excellent photography. I'd like to see a nice HDR pic of the prosports both lit and unlit.

I'm just saying my defi is just very responsive, just reacts to every little throttle input.

I have this exact same setup thanks for the right up made the install way easier, what did you do with your other sensor in place of where your oil pressure is now?
