2.5L/2.2L running problem
So from this link you will know which engine and spec I'm talking about. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1107352
The engine started but ran a little rough the other day. I had swapped the original Aux air valve and figured that was the problem. The engine went from 1000rpm to 2000rpm reving up and down and stopped then did run for a little bit once warmed up. So I put on my original valve. The engine runs smooth after starting goes up to about 1500rpm and then to 1000 and dies. I can start it again but it does the same thing, like running out of fuel although it smells from the exhaust that it's running to rich though. I did see I had missed a plug to the small air box under the intake manifold on the left viewed from the front. So I plugged it in but the same problem. Any clues guys? I've checked all the plugs and pipes and all seems in order. The 2.2L ran sweet before I did this conversion. The engine sounds fine with no odd noises. To me it's like it's to cold and not getting enough fuel even though it smells rich. Tomorrow I'm going to pull the plugs to see what's happening in there.

Okay the story so far. I've fiddled with the Aux air valve and I'm almost sure this is working good. I did move the throttle sensor box a little which did seem to help and the engine did rev a little better. The engine spits back through the intake which I thought at first because it was cold but when I got it hot it still did the same thing. In fact when trying the rev the engine it's holding back and some times clear out and revs a little better
Now at with the conclusion the timing belt has slipped or I screwed up when setting the timing. The worst thing is the smell from the exhaust, it makes your eyes water. So I feel this is unburnt fuel due to the timing. Tomorrow I will pull the timing covers. Thanks |

O2 sensor faulty and ECU needed to reset it's self. Engine ran today for 45mins. Just need to replace the header and system and I should be ready for a road test.
