Default Audi S3/S3 Sportback Get S-tronic Paddle Shift Transmission

Quote:
Ready yourself for the inevitable screed of Clarksonian denigration ending in successively more nonsensical similes for how awful the Audi S3 and S3 Sportback featuring the flappy paddle shifters of the S-tronic transmission are. For the new model year, the S3s get the twin-clutch six speed selectable automatic transmission hooked to the 265 HP, 258 lb-ft 2.0 TFSI engine. The result will be hatefully despised as silly, but will make the car run to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, that's two-tenths faster. Rubbish! Complete press release below.

If that came here, it'd be priced like an STi. nice, but not for me.

It would be in the low $40K range, at least that's what they were going for in Mexico for the 2008 MY.

I'm thinking the previous gen design is nicer.

The S is no longer going after the M and AMG. It's more of a sport model (audi S4 will go after BMW 335) RS models are now the true performance models.

Okay, BUT look at the quality of the Audi interior/materials compared to the STi. That same price buys you noticeably better equipment. The WRX should have leather for 30k and its not even an option, but you get it in the A3 at the same pricepoint.

But I'd wager that the Subie hardware is better... and that from an Audi brat!

I know it isn't the hatch form, but we do get the TT-S which is the same exact setup as this car. Very nice quality, but starting at around $45,000 IIRC

Has the black paint started rubbing off your climate controls, or the widow controls yet? The interior in my roommates 04 is garbage. Nice seats but everything else is falling apart.
