Default Cleaner Wax

When is it too early to use a cleaner wax. I bought my car new in November, and it had a pin stip on it. Well I removed the pin stripe, and there is still a little bit of residue on it, even after washing a couple of times. It is supposed to be a VERY nice day tomorrow, so I figured I would give the car its first wax (maybe even remove some badges). I am just not too sure if it would be good to use the cleaner wax and a wax, or just wax.

If you get a cleaner wax that is "clear coat safe" you should be alright I think. I am not an expert though.

I don't by a product unless it says "clear coat safe" or "safe for all finishes including clearcoat". Those type of cleaners are not very abrasive.

I like mothers products and meguires. I use other stuff now (not availalbe in a local store), but have had good luck with both those products.

You can check www.properautocare.com for info on detailing.

I'd use some GOOGONE to remove the adhesive then follow up with a good glaze and wax.

Yeah, I agree with JustDSM. Use GooGone or a bug and tag remover first. Washing doesn't always get the sticky stuff off. I'm partial to Meguiars Professional Products and they can also be bought on-line.
Properautocare is too pricey for me. Meguiars Car was $7.95 on their sit and Meguiars sells it for $5.99. If that's indicative of their pricing their a little out of line. They do however have all the gadjets and a lot of good info.

i would use goo gone or wd40 to take off the residue
and wax afterwards. i use cleaner wax every 3-4 months
when there's gunk i cant get off with a claybar. but
usually i use it only as a spot wax application and use
soft carnuba wax (sp?) on the entire car. unless you
wash your car a lot with detergent, you dont need to
wax the car that much either. im planning to try some
polymer wax this summer....

any recommendations on polymer wax?
