Is the Jeep a 4.0? If so, that thing will last for ever. We put 350K miles on ours and never had any real issue with it.

Yeah I had heard the 4.0's are fantastic engines. I guess it's one of the few Chrysler products that they really nailed.

because Chrysler didn't build it. It was a legacy AMC/Willy's motor.

Hmmm interdesting. At this point that's what they should be doing. They still can't figure out how to build a reliable ****ing car, may as well put some Japanese motors in their cars that they seem to redesign every single year.

Yes, it is. sitting with just over 227K right now. Needs a lot of work and the engine needs a tune up/fluid change, but she is still going strong. I don't drive it much because the A/C quit several years ago, the electric windows don't work, the radio doesn't work and the headliner is coming down. It's my beater vehicle.

Me:
That's because the 4.0 Jeep engine is not a Chrysler product - the design is an old AMC.

Although Chrysler made some phenomenally stout engines back in the day. The old small blocks were hella tough, and the Slant Six was nigh unkillable.

New Chrysler? Not so much.

News

As my first post I would like to offer an introspective history of my car ownership leading up to age 26. In two more posts I will be qualified to list my 9-2x on the classifieds.

1) 1997 Nissan Quest (fast, very agile, champion understeerer, dramatically encountered a light pole at the entrance to the high school parking lot)

2) 1999 Ford Contour Sport V6 (commonly referred to as "a dog", was donated when slushbox shifter failed to leave 'park', would absolutely buy another V6 Contour)

3) 2008 Volvo C30 (Great car for architecty-types, robust torque figures, met its end as a sandwich between two SUV's, lived up to its safety reputation)

4) 2002 Wrangler Sport 4L (top speed 70mph, ragtop, caused permanent hearing loss, it's true what they say about great resale value)

5) 1993 Mazda Miata (curve-hugger, tail-wagger, panty-dropper, not for sale)

6) 2005 Saabaru 9-2x 2.5i (At least 3 times more capable in snow than Wrangler, equally as slow, has butt warmers, not sure if i'm allowed to be here... currently for sale)

:ri tz:

Thanks for your time.

2. 1995 Subaru Legacy L - Still have
3. 1996 Corolla - Sold
4. 1999 Lexus ES300 - Still have
