Ok so I pulled the bank 2 valve (driver's side) and cleaned it up this weekend to try to "unstick" it. Put everything back together today and fired up the car. Got CEL immediately. I let it come up to temp and pulled the rubber hose that goes from the pump to the valves right at the y-branch and have exhaust coming out. I guess this means I have a stuck valve then, huh?
I didn't want to pull the whole system because of the logistics with the passenger side block off plate. Instead, I plan blocking off the driver's side head, pull the relay/fuse for the system, and leave everything else in place. It sounds like a good plan to me, but is there something I'm not thinking of? Would my plan work as described above? |

I just had IAG Performance do the air pump delete for me a while back.
I do notice that it revs up a bit higher on cold start at idle. |

Did the delete on both sides on my 06 this weekend, wouldn't wish the passenger side on my worst enemy. Gonna re-flash in the morning and hopefully rid myself of the CEL.

I've read a few conflicting posts about what relays and fuses to pull for my '07 WRX. Best I can tell is there are (2) fuses and (3) relays.
-60A fuse (Air Pump) -10A fuse (Air Cut) -Air Pump Relay -Air Cut Relay 1 -Air Cut Relay 2 Is this correct? |

When I did this a while back I pulled the 2 fuses, don't think leaving the relays in place will harm anything.

Tuner recomendation in Washington DC/Maryland area
I recently bought an '07 WRX and the seller obviously reset the codes prior to selling it to me as within 20 miles the engine check light and cruise flashing indicator was on. CEL of P0410 . Live and learn.
I took the air pump off last night and sure enough it was seized. I was able to get it spinning a bit but the bearings are shot. What an entirely crappy design! Full of water! Like others I'm going to eliminate all of the associated secondary air injection pieces. It sounds like the passenger side will make me beg for mercy. My question: Can someone recommend a tuner in the Washington DC/preferably Maryland area who can block all the required codes on the ECU? Great thread -I kept reading and waiting for the easy way out! Regards, Patrick Arnold |

Or you can spend 1/4 of that and get a tactrix cable, take my stage 1 tune off of the rom raider forms and copy it into your 07 rom, and make sure the codes are off.

Leafy, found your ROM: http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewt...hp?f=28&t=9070 Where you say, "If you want to use this on an 07 you'll need to just copy the tables over, DO NOT just flash the tune file." Can you explain a bit more as to what this means? Thank you, Pat Arnold |

2007 WRX - Passenger Solenoid Removal
My son and I worked this past weekend to delete the Air Pump, solenoids, and install the block-off plates. We successfully reprogrammed the ECU as well. We also removed the barometric sensor from the drivers solenoid. I'm, however, stuck on two main remaining areas:
1. Removing the solenoid mounting plate 12 mm bolt for the passenger side solenoid (as you know the solenoid is actually mounted on the drivers side as well). Is there a special tool/wrench that folks have used for this? I've tried a number of wrenches, box end, open end, and offset along with sockets and swivels. This continues to be a challenge. 2. Removal of the connection pipe from the passenger side solenoid to the engine. My conclusion is this may simply require the removal of the turbo. I've tried cutting this pipe but getting the correct angle, leverage, and not damaging something else is really problematic. Thoughts on #1 in particular? Thanks very much. This has been an experience to say the least Regards, Patrick Arnold |

The best, and easiest way to remove that valve is to remove the intake manifold as well. As far as removing the pipe, I ended up cutting mine out in pieces with a sawzall, just gotta be extra careful around the wires and such there. ~Evil |

Hey Evil,
Perseverance paid off --I removed the passenger side valve and got the pipe out. For the valve, I was able to knock it with a hard dowel clockwise a couple of degrees --just enough to loosen the torque on the bolt and then reach it with a swivel. Some heavy dosing of Kroil overnight probably helped. Careful cutting for the pipe did the job. It was a bear but she's done. This thread has been a great resource. Thanks to all who contributed. Hi everyone,
My air pump is starting to have weird sounds on startup on my MY06 WRX and have been reading through this thread. Unfortunately, I'm a newbee and would like to get confirmation from people with the same model year as I have who have done this mod successfully or just from people who have extensive knowledge about this specific mod. I can remove the car's air pump, solenoids(2?), and valves. I do not need to reconnect wiring harness from both DS & PS of the vehicle related to the solenoids of the air pump. I need 2 block off plates for DS & PS valves. I need to delete 14 CEL codes No need for a retune/remap after codes have been deleted. Please do advice if I missed anything. Many thanks |
