Default Driftaru!

From stock to first 2JZ swapped WRX.

Here is my build thread for my 2004 WRX RWD Drift.

I bought the car in August 2008 and was initially going to build the car to be a fun daily/ occasional time attack car but then completely lost it and got into drifting. So I decided to make my car into a drift car in my garage and just figure it out as I went along.

the beginning. August 2008. Bone stock engine. This picture shows the only thing that has remained with the car over the build - Charge Speed Version 1 Bumper...though its been repaired a bunch of times haha.

That being said, the transformation of the car would not be as significant, my house would have probably burnt down, and I would have most likely lost some fingers, an eye or two etc. if it wasn't for the help of awesome friends! There are a ton of people I should thank for helping with the car, primarily I want to thank Elevens Paint & Fiber, Ace Up Motorsports, Brewed Motorsports, Eric Franz-Larson (old roommate and tuner ), Alex King (old roommate and automotive/life advisor), and friends Vitaly Sopkin and Dustin Latimer for all helping with the car. Main thing i've learnt along the way: seat time > car Focus on building driving experience over building your car.

Awd drifting doesn't need steering angle.

But...rwd is the way to go anyways. It's more fun and you retain independent front/rear operation. It's more flexible.

Have fun with the prep. Most of it will still come down to your driving. You'll still have to toy with the car and find out what it does and then mod it as needed to respec the car to what you prefer. It'll be hard to tell until you start drifting the thing. I'd suggest staying light with the mods and just see what it does first.

haha holy **** guys, ok i"ll post some teaser pics by tonight ok! Sorry, I've been working on the car a ton trying to get it ready for a drift event tomorrow. It's on a really sick track here in Phoenix instead of the stupid skid pad + cone setup. Going to be messing around with some awd driftage with the DCCD open...fun stuff.

Just welded in my hydro setup and planning to run the lines to it and also install a ABS kill switch today, and street tune with my roommate tonight. Also been trying to track down a boost leak goblin in the engine bay so yeah, here are some teaser pics i took with my roomy's 7D, when the car is done, meaning RWD spool installed and helllaaaw fwush Rota Grids on the back, spacers on the front, i'll be actually cleaning the car up, driving to a spot, and taking some legitimate car porn pics until then you have these.

just going rwd is NOT going to get you enough steering angle...sadly. its depressing but, it would require some custom work.
