You obviously don't have full glass coverage on your auto insurance.

Right I have a $500 deductible so the insurance paid $230. Since this is the first time I've had a cracked windshield in decades I prefer not to waste money on full glass coverage.

Unfortunately for me I do have the higher tier windshield (heated wipers) and that is a crazy expensive replacement cost. What makes it even worse is your price was USD, I'm gonna have to pay in CDN...

Maybe your dealership can put dye in it and check it for free since there's a TSB for this. Hope it's not coming from the cam carrier like mine was. I don't know if you would want to take on that job.
I doubt anything would be free when I am 13.5k out of warranty

In ND I can't get glass coverage. My windshield was like 530 for a Guardian brand installed. Me 250, insurance the rest.

Probably my last post in this topic, since as of today I am a former 2012 Impreza owner (premium, 5 door). Fret not, I upgraded, and there's a nice shiny 2015 WRX Premium quietly snoozing in my garage tonight to take it's place!

So time for a little recap...

Total miles on car - 47071
Miles with fuel data - 46759.1

Total fuel consumption - 1801.527 gallons

Net gas mileage - 25.96 mpg

Mileage has been dropping yearly since my original purchase in late May 2012. Started off at 26.98 mpg for 2012, was 26.36 mpg for 2013, was 25.51 mpg for 2014, and ending with 22.95 mpg for 2015. I'll offer a few disclaimers, as I don't believe my mileage is as good as it could be for several reasons. My daily commute, a mix of country roads, stop and go city streets, and interstate driving was only 8 miles one way - hard for the car to get warmed up sufficiently. Balance of mileage was typically high speed interstate driving, another known gas mileage killer. Winter blend gasoline, ethanol in the gas, low temperatures (Syracuse, NY) and this car do not appear to get along well when you are trying to optimize gas mileage, and the short commute was a double whammy in this case. I also believe I was driving a bit more agressively as time went on - heavier on the gas, and less concerned over maximizing gas mileage. Under certain conditions -- 50-60 mph, summer driving, country roads -- the car delivered mileage that met or exceeded the sticker numbers.

Repair costs were minimal, oil changes every 7500 miles, tire rotations every 5000-6000 miles, air filter changes as necessary. Biggest cost was a set of tires, replaced prematurely due to unrepairable tire damage to one OEM tire around 19,000 miles. Brake pads were getting close to needing replacement at the time I traded in.

In the end, would I have purchased this car, knowing what I know now? Most certainly. Fuel costs were certainly higher than anticipated, but that's a function of the conditions I was driving under. Trade in value was a bit lower than anticipated, however two minor accidents disqualified the car from being a certified used vehicle, and likely the upcoming brake work also impacted the number. Overall, the car did what it needed to do with no major issues, phenomenal go in the snow (once the right tires were on it), and reliability that was top shelf. I would have kept the car longer or bought another Impreza, had I not wanted to upgrade to a WRX.

Nice recap. May I ask what the dealership gave you in trade, and what you paid for the WRX? How much harsher does the WRX ride when compared to the Impreza?

Hmmmm I don't believe my insurance has a deductible on the glass coverage ( kemperdirect ) and it was like $12 extra per 6 months. Def worth it when you have the heated windshield. You guys have me thinking I'll have to check again

Congrats CNy12owner on the new WRX dude and nice write up. Best of luck

Now your phone needs to be compatible with this feature in order to work. If it is not, it'll just charge at the normal speed. I bought this one, Amazon.com: PureGear Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 Extreme USB 12W Car Charger, Black, Single Port: Cell Phones & Accessories, and that'll be all you need. I would recommend the Anker 6ft (or whatever length you want) USB cable to go along with it. When I connect my Samsung S6 to my car charger, it'll say "charger connected" and then say "fast charger connected."

I purposefully discharged my phone to about 18% before leaving for work. My morning commute is approximately 40 minutes with traffic. When I parked at work, I had a 77% charge. Trust me, all this volts/amps stuff won't matter once you get a charger that is quick charge compatible. Don't worry about the Qualcomm page not listing the newer Samsung devices such as the Note 4 or S6 - they're compatible.
Thank you, I ended up getting this.

http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Certified-Aukey-Charge-Charger/dp/B00QEX83LA
I don't think my OnePlus One has quick charge 2.0 enabled though.

I also bought a set of cables from this guy on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/181622495649 He's an awesome guy, really nice and very helpful.

Cool

Here's part numbers to do the WRX red stitched boot, shifter knob & button, indicator plate and silver surround:

35126VA000 Grip Sub Assembly (Shifter)
35127AJ000 Button Grip
35133VA000 Boot Select Lever
35180SG031 Indicator Assembly
92121VA100 Cover Indicator
904500031 Tapping Screw Truss Head M4x12

Would look like this:

You can look up the Impreza / XV shifter on http://parts.subaru.com

I'll drop you a PM with some numbers. WRX is a firmer ride, you do feel more of the bumps in the road because of the suspension, but it drives like it's on rails. Cornering is solid and confident, you point the car where you want to go, and it does it without hesitation. There's enough feedback that you know what's going on, but not so much that it's beating you up badly. Seat bolsters hold you in the seat fairly well, and I'm not noticing body roll in tight curves. It's definitely not a soft ride like a luxury car, though.
