Weird electrical problem
I noticed something this morning: I stopped the car, took the key out of the ignition, and my radio stayed on!! WTF?? I'm taking it into the car stereo shop to look at it tommarow. Any ideas on this one?

I am no expert, but I would say they wired your power lead on the radio directly to the battery, so it now has constant power.

ihad that same thing in my last car, the(usually red) power wire was wired directly to the battery, all you have to do is remember to turn the headunit off when you getout of the car. otherwise you'll come back to a dead battery.

OK- Found out what happened. Headunit recieved a surge after dealer installed a power window switch and door lock auctuator without disconnecting power causing a short and then surge (Ok, ok that's what I think happened, but I do know they did not disconnect battery )
Solution: Car Toys installed a brand new headunit and tested all electricals. It works fine now. Next- Amp installation. JJ |
