How about red for driver, black for passenger, or vice versa. Then you could go Sparco Speed, or Sprint....pretty inexpensive buckets.

froggert:
i love the idea of sitting in the different seats, and it would be an awesome way to tell what ones are great. but you see, i live in maine. YES, that is in the united states. you wouldn't believe how many people, (actual people who live in america) didn't know maine was part of the US. it's rediculous.
so yah, i live in maine, where the hell am i goign to get all these different seats to plop my butt in?
nice try tho, would work great if i lived somewhere else.

This is going to sound dumb - but what's the difference between normal seats and racing seats?

First take a look at your normal seat and then take a look at some of the mentioned racing seats.

Racing seats hold your body tighter, they provide space for sports safety belts, and they probably weigh less.

You ever do any sporty driving......when you turn the corner your butt and body are all over the place on the stupid seat because the stock seats are wide enough to run a mac truck up them....and have very little if any side supports to keep your arse in place.

Racing seats have side supports to keep you from moving around....and are usually narrower then the stock seats as well.

Since there are sooo many different type of people...big people, small people, short people...tall people...etc. Stock seats are made some where in the middle of that. If you are a smaller person....you're goin to be floatin all over the place.

I find myself graspin the steering wheel an shifter to hold on when I go around a corner. It should not be that way.

I need a new seat....but have other things to worry about right now......

Dojoromeo, are there any auto-x's in your area? Drag races? Club meetings of other cars? Try getting on some different boards and ask people that live in your area if you can try their seats out. Seats are very finnicky as far as sizing goes. A Medium of a Sparco is going to fit very differently than a Medium OMP, or Recarro. You spend a lot of time in the seat so make sure you get something that feels good and is functional for your purposes. Do you want a complete bucket which can be a pain to get out of, or do you want reclinable. Are you happy in the same position and only need back and forward.
Anyways, it is definitely a very good idea to sit in these seats before purchase. Ask around and find a few people that have a few types of seats. That should give you a pretty good idea what to buy.

I'm not sure what kind of performance or race applications you have in mind ... but you might consider wrx seats ... they bolt right in ... change the female belt from your legacy seat to the wrx seat and your're set ... I have a pair in my '97 gt ...

now ... the wrx seats and rails are higher and if you're 5'11" or taller ... you wont have any head room ...

I'm not sure if you can swap seat rails ...

the wrx seats are very good! and a lot less money than a good set of "racing seats" and IMHO ... just as supportive and more comfortable than most I tried ..

depending upon what you plan to do ... they may work for you .. and definitely a good deal for the price ... I picked up mine for 650 including shipping ...
