Default Jack stand and jack for 2005 STi

hi,

i just got a jack and stands from sears to do my brake pads, lines, and fluid. I wanted to know where the best place to jack the car up from the front is. I know for the back you ahve to use the rear diff. How about for the front?

Where are the safest places to put the jack stands for the front and the back?

thanks

There's a jack plate under the front of the car, just behind the oil pan.

thanks ..how about the jack stands.

when i did my turboback exhaust, i used the oem jack and 2 old jack stands that i had and put them right by the jack-up place behind the ridge. after lowering the car back down, there seemed to be an indentation on the place where the jack stand was.

Look underneath your sideskirts, there are some spots closer to the wheels (ends of the sideskirts) where you can put the jack stands. If you look under the side skirts you will see where to put the jackstands. The stands will rest on some metal ridge areas so you won't scrape your sidskirts.

Search on www.scoobymods.com as their jack point instructions are the best. Using the "stock locations" can cause them to bend and then you will be up poo creek if you have to use the stock scissor jack for a flat tire.

They were moving a bunch of stuff around Pep boys the other day and had a bunch of clearance stuff in the corner. I got a 2 ton Jack/Jackstand combo for $12.71. (not sure if they had it in the computer wrong, cause the exact same jack in yellow was $20 and the stands were $12.99 separately) SCORE.

i bought a similar combo at pep boys for cheap. mine was jack stands, jack, and seat. the seat and stands are great, but the jack sucks.... the lift height on it isn't very good at all.

I hear ya, but I needed another set of jack stands and the cheapest ones were the same price as the combo.

The Service and Maintenance forum has more info on this general topic.
Also, I'm not sure if cheapness is the #1 feature I'd be looking for in a piece of equipment that is responsible for keeping me from dying...
