New, they are pretty close to the same price but yes a lot people run the oem rack. The Inno fairing will fit most racks including the oem without modification. To get other fairings to work with oem you would need to modify them.

Does Unabomber have a roof rack FAQ we could just link to? If no, does anyone want to write one?

Edit: I don't believe he does. I could put in some info for 08+

Thank you. Sorry for the confusion... Didn't mean to come off like a dick.

No prob. I cut my Thule aero's down the other day. They were 47" I chopped about 4" off. IMO they look way better. The back are a little shorter since the car is narrower there. Anyone else do that?

If you do put together a FAQ, I have info I could provide as well.

Yea for sure. Pm me with some questions you think would be good. I'll put the answers down and add more if I think of something.

I am rocking a 08+ style Yakima rack (number 11 landing pads) and the brackets that "Krazy" has made from 303 Stainless. They are wicked solid and way better than drilling and tapping the stock "euro" rack mount bases that come on out car. Since they are 303 I am going to paint my "krazy brackets" this weekend just bc i'm in Nebraska and they are liberal with salt around here (that's why i bought this for a daily nad park my Limited over winter)

and not only does it get things strapped to her roof but also i put a hitch (that's an STi Genome btw and a Curt hitch and Kart Boy hangers 2 regular and 2 long) so I can haul my quad to the MX track and dunes and I need to order my basket for the roof to toss my gear bag on )

for those of you wondering, my RS is running an STi Mid pipe and has STi Suspension off an 05+ (custom modded to fit my sprindles) I also did a lot of other things that pics dont show...but if it bolts to it from either my WRX Limited or an STi chance is it will end up here:

Careful with the bike on in the garage. Don't want to pull out/in with it on there. I always put a bucket in front of my spot in the garage so I don't accidentally pull in with it on

Yeah I just put it on there for a test fit, thanks for the heads up though I will probably just slide my garbage can over in front of the garage so I don't forget and come flying in the garage, I would not be happy with that damage

Good plan. It would really suck to rip a bike off... Looks good though. How's the fitment with the bike on opening the hatch?

Thanks man, that is a good question, didn't try that. I did open the hatch with just the rack on and there was plenty of clearance so I am assuming it should be fine. Everything fits great and I am really happy with it!

Sweet. Does the bike wobble a little bit? It does on mine and I'm always nervous about that

And since I'm talking so much here's a pic.

Rocky mounts snow rack. Love them!!!! Silent! Only a slight problem getting bindings upside down but not a big deal if you don't mind squishing them onto your roof or you know how to fold them small. I have button cartel's and I get them small enough to fit.

No the bike is very solid up there, I shook it back and forth and it barely moved! There is no road noise at all even without a fairing, highly recommend the whispbars! Your car looks really good too, I still love the look of fairings but I thought I would try these. No I just need to get my Oz Ultraleggera's ordered and my KW coils. Then hopefully I will be done!

You are probably right, I am just trying hard to be done, haha. My wife wants to order a Mini Countryman S All4 so I am working on that to keep me busy, haha. Don't worry though I am already picturing a black Thule Atlantis 1600 cargo box on the white mini

Nice! We thought about that but ended up getting her a leggy gt which will be nice when the kids come. More room than the "medium". Haha

That is the only thing holding me back, we have a 4yr old daughter and 6yr old son. They are obviously out of all that rear facing car seat stuff and are in boosters which don't take up much room. Would for sure need the cargo box for trips and such, the wife hates roof boxes but I think I have her talked into one for the room.

Have to modify them somehow. Get creative. I cut up some exhaust pipe and bent to fit around the bars and attached them to that. Worked great.
