Default Help With Bearings

Hello All,

About 1 month ago, my Left Front wheel bearing started making noise. After waititng WAY TOO LONG to take it to be fixed, I finaly did so. In the end, I replaced the right front for precautionary purposes, and the Left side was so bad, I needed to replace the hub as well, which was done. Now, a month later, the left front is making the same noise again. It just started yesterday, so I am hoping that the hub won't need to be changed, but here is my two fold question.

First, HOW CAN I CHECK TO SEE IF A BEARING IS IN GOOD CONDITION. I Have the right side front bearing that was replaced just to be sure. How can I see if it is still good. I have obtained some High Temp Lube to repack the bearings with, in a hope to keep the bearing from failing again. I will use mineral spirits to remove the regular grease, and then pack them with the good stuff, but I want to make sure the bearing is good first.

Next, anyone have an idea how to keep this from happening again and again other then the high temp grease.

My current setup is a Tein Flex, and while my wheels are stock, I do use Toyo RA1's at the race track, and they are just a "little" wider then stock tires.

Thanx for the help,
Michael

The bearings might not be strong enough for the RA-1s I know of some similar problems that friends have had with other cars and R comps. You would think it wouldn't be a big deal, but it is.

Ya, I know that could be it. But, I have seen many WRX's with wider wheels and tires, that are R compound, and with Hoosiers and the like, and no problems. I wanna be in that catagory as well, no problems.
