Hi everyone. Haven't been on here since after a few weeks of delivery back in December 2011.

- Gotten used to the CVT 'whine'; additionally, not a fan of the CVT appearing to downshift when going down hills to maintain a consistent speed vs. speeding up based on gravity

- Really hate how i have to hit the key fob once for driver door, and twice for the rest of the doors, and another for the trunk. The beeping each time is really annoying.
#1 - what's the build date on your car. There was a TSB for TCM/ECU relfash/updates. One off which addressed excessive engine braking. It still will experience it down hills, but if its excessive this may help. These were implemented in Sept & Dec 2011 so if your build date is early enough you may want to request them.

#2 - if you've hit unlock twice on your key fob, that has unlocked ALL doors including the trunk/hatch gate. Once unlocks driver door only, twice all doors, & the trunk button only unlocks the trunk/hatch gate. But you shouldn't need to press it 3 times to do that. I have the hatch, so maybe the 4 door is different. But I have disabled that chirp on mine.

I took delivery in 12/2011 as well & am right around 13K miles as well. Similar MPG & 2 oil changes so far. Had new felt strips installed on the windows for a seal/moisture issue & my drivers side seat back was replaced yesterday for a squeaky seat. Had my windshield replaced but that wasn't a Subaru/warranty issue. Aside from those minor issues I love my car!

So yeah, how is everyone? (not reading through hundreds of previous pages).
You can disable the beep.
you can also wax your car. I've yet to get an answer from people complaining about the paint chips if they wax or anything like that. It's a good idea, especially starting out with a new car/new paint.

The issue with the chipping paint isn't going to be solved with wax. Subaru uses either thin paint or clearcoat or both. This is a long standing complaint that people even had back in 2005.

Dr. ColorChip is magical. Use it. Fairly priced, too.

That one in the corner was terrible. If I had kept the WRX I would've kept applying Dr. ColorChip until it filled up the crazy chipping.

I also can't stress clay-barring enough. I clay-barred my BRZ recently. It had collected a week's worth of dirt, but that's all it took to make it disgusting. With a wash you can't tell, but if you rub your car and it isn't smooth, but feels a bit like sand paper, then a clay bar is in order.

chanomatik, how does the Dr. Colorchip compare to regular touch-up paint?

I've never looked forward to the cold snowy weather, until I bought my Subaru.

I ran the strip overhead just inside the door, the headliner there is easy to move and there is enough room to zip tie it there without removing the headliner. If this strip dies I will install another, it is pretty cool and quick to install. In that position it is also weatherproof, as it is inside the car and the weatherstripping.

The amount of light is amazing, and that position works well to light up the hatch -- it is much brighter than the interior dome light and that little side hatch light.

When the strip is lit, you will not see the zip ties (it is very bright!)

When the strip is unlit, no one is really going to notice it tucked up in back near the hatch, unless you regularly tie up people and stuff them in your hatch face up.

I suggest you leave them face down, then they won't obsess if your zip ties are crooked!

thanks for the picture zeeper!! very helpful indeed!!

Hello fellow Impreza lovers.

I am wondering if any of you can shed light on something my dealership told me. First off, my dealership has an additional department that does custom work like installing aftermarket heated seats, window tinting etc. They installed an aftermarket heated seat in my driver's seat but said they were unable to install one in the passenger seat due to some conflict with a passenger airbag.

Does anyone know anymore info about this or if it's true? I have the base model 2012 Impreza hatch if that makes a difference.

That probably has to do with the passenger occupancy sensor. The driver side I would think doesn't have one because you wouldn't be driving without a driver.

Yes, people have reported sensor problems due to moisture or interference when they put their cellphones on the seat. It seems like a realistic explanation.

Thanks guys, I didn't figure the dealership was trying to pull one over on me, but thought I'd check in and see anyway. They gave me a couple hundred dollar credit on my account to use as I wish for the trouble, so I guess it's not all bad in the end.

I am well aware of the occupancy system. I was the initiator of the TSB regarding the occupancy system.

I think the old system is much more reliable and less problematic than the new system.

Would the mud flaps be compatible if the strake kit and aero splash gaurds are already installed on an Impreza sport?
My French isn't that great, how much were the mud flaps?
