Default Will it fit: 2011 STi Sedan exhaust on 2010 WRX Sedan

I like the quad tip look and want to hear more boxer rumble which is totally absent from the 2010 sedan. I know the black diffuser would have to be cut/modified to fit the wider quad tips but besides that will it just bolt right on??

You do know the 2011 WRX sedan also has the quad exhaust also, right? Or is the STI the SPT exhaust? Whichever, the 2011 has a nice rumble. This is the first stock car I've actually liked the exhaust note on.

i have wandered about the same thing, the mufflers look pretty much the same with couple of more holes in them, hence the louder exhaust note. if you look at turboxs website, they say that they are working on exhaust that fits 09-11 wrx/sti sedan exhaust with quad tips, so im assuming the stock one will just bolt on right away with diffuser modification of course.

I sold my 2011 WRX quad tip OEM exhaust to a 2008 sedan WRX and the fitment was perfect, no cutting or hacking and the sound was the same as a 2011.

So yes it has been done.

I know it has already been stated, but YES, the OEM '11 sedan exhaust will fit the '08+ sedans. I guess a second confirmation on this helps. Enjoy!!!

Got one and it does bolt right up but the tips don't fit the cut outs....gonna have to do a little custom fab work to the bumper. On the other hand, sounds pretty funny with no mufflers. By funny I mean awesome.

Hey folks, to those whom have tried it I have a question:

Did you guys replace the whole exhaust? Could you get away with changing just the...

A) Midpipe on?
B) Y pipe on?
C) Axle back?

I wouldn't wanna buy/remove more parts than are necessary. Thanks in advance!

I just bolted up the midpipe. Haven't put the mufflers on yet as I haven't had time to modify the bumper cutout's but they'll fit. Pretty funny driving around without the mufflers though.

Ok so a brief update. I got the 2011 catback and this week I'm going to set aside time to put it on. Can anyone confirm here, does the bumper have to be cut or not?

If does have to be modified do you guys suggest a heat gun or tin snips to shape the cutouts? I'm happier than a pig in **** right now.

I would say test fit, and then if modification is necessary, then begin measuring off, I would say snip it off for cleaner cuts. I would imagine modification would be necessary seeing as how the exhaust cutouts are smaller on the 08-10's.

I can confirm the 2010 WRX sedan and 2011 STI sedan use the same midpipe and muffler jigs. Although the STI uses quad tips and a smaller resonator, the cat-backs are completely interchangeable.

I took off the midpipe of my STI (leaving the mufflers) and swapped in my old '10 WRX midpipe with resonator removed (straight piped). Bolted up perfect. Helped the sound of the stock STI exhaust too.

Yes, there was some cutting involved although some people have said it doesn't require any. My guess is theirs utilized different hangers/did not have a DP....

Interesting that you had to do some cutting. I don't have a DP on mine you are right but I did use the stock hangers. How much did you end up having to cut?

From what I saw the shop do it was minor cutting to fit the tips under the OEM "diffuser." My guess is my DP forces me to use the Grimspeed adapter which in turns, pushes the system back some, maybe an 1"

LOVE IT!!! It may be a bit of a stretch but with my DP it sounds like a G35 w/ a slight rumble. Someone told me after a couple of thousand miles, the canisters open up a bit to allow more rumble. Hope that's the case
