Did your dealer order one for you from Japan, or did they find one already in the states and have it shipped to your dealer? It seems like they called around and found one. You got lucky my friend. I'm jealous! Congrats! Do you have pics in the pic thread?
Yeah, he found one I believe from Massachusettes. I haven't posted pictures yet but I plan on throwing some up very soon. So far I have a nice Burnt Ti Lathewerks round knob, tints all around, debadged the rear and a light tint over the reverse lights. I plan on doing a lot of suspension work and all the sport body options. Can't wait.

Default Crosstrek

Just ordered a 2013 XV Crosstrek, dark grey metallic with 5spd manual tranny. Traveled to a bunch of dealers in the Denver area until I found one willing to go below/at invoice. Seems anything below MSRP is difficult right now due to vehicle scarcity. In fact, most dealers around here try to tack on an additional $495 destination and handling charge! Here are the accessories I included:

Crossbars
Auto-dimming mirror
Splash guards
Rear bumper cover
All weather mats
Center Tray Console

Price before taxes & registration: $22,218, which is about $2K less than I was able to find elsewhere.

I'll be stoked if it arrives prior to year end, but I'm not holding my breath.

Congrats on the order. They give you a timeline for delivery? Sounds like 12 weeks is typical for imprezas XV or not. DGM is a popular color, definitely a good looking color. Hopefully it comes in sooner than later for you!

I ordered a (XV) Khaki Limited with moonroof/nav and the dealer keeps saying 6-8 weeks but obviously that keeps going further out in time. I'm starting to think that it really will be 12 weeks and being without a car is starting to get to me, I hate being on my wifes schedule. At any given time I could probably get a XV but it wouldn't be with a black interior, all the dealers around here seem to get at least one every week set up with the nav/moonroof but in one of the colors that ONLY comes with a tan interior. I REALLY don't want an interior so light colored, it will get trashed in no time between getting in the car muddy after mt biking or spilling my coffee in the morning on the way to work or one of the kids doing something dumb or...

Well I picked up my Baby on Saturday. LOVE IT! But now a few of the accessories (crossbar and splash guards) I ordered are backordered with no estimated day of arrival. This is just crazy. I've never experienced such a backlog like I have with Subaru. But being able to drive my Impreza makes up for it. Its SWEEEET! I've already made friends with a few other Subie drivers in the area and got the jealous look from some guy in a Mitsubishi yesterday. :-)

I hope you guys still waiting for your Imprezas get them soon. It seriously is going to be well worth the wait!

I was told 8-10 weeks. I was also told by another dealer that 5MTs take a lot longer to deliver than CVTs....so that is a little disconcerting. Oh well, as long as it shows up within 3 months I'll be happy - as ridiculous as that sounds. I guess this forum has successfully tempered by expectations.

On the bright side it does give you time to get a few other goodies you might want to put on the car. I've already planned all my upgrades and am just slowly ordering up stuff.
It will be 1 month on the 28th of oct, I don't expect the car until december, as long as its here for december or january, I will immediately slap on the snow tires sitting in my spare room and go out and enjoy some fresh powder.

Yeah I was noticing the people who ordered Imprezas with CVTs same time I did getting theirs sooner as well. So I would say your dealer is correct to say that. I definitely want a 5MT so I get to play the waiting game as well. I am hoping for a November delivery date. I think all dealers are misquoting delivery time at this point. I called SoA 2 weeks ago and they said 12 week delivery is average. I've waited so long as it is, I might as well wait longer and just get it. If November passes and I still don't have a car I might be a little irritated to say the least!

Not 100% sure why the CVTs are being made and delivered faster. My guess is more people are buying the CVTs than the 5MTs. I know my dealer was trying to sell me one, but I'm a diehard manual trans guy. Whether its 50hp or 500hp I like shifting myself, I can't stand how autos do it, they don't play nice and share, lol

Angry Ordered in August - Promised for Oct 1 - Now December

I'm pretty angry about this myself. I ordered the Impreza because I need the car, not because I wanted to maybe get a car someday should the mood strike someone somewhere to produce the darn thing. I have a new baby and a 2 door sports car. I can't possibly wait for the car to come in (I was told December at the earliest, with no apologies whatsoever). They can't keep my deposit given their breach of contract right? I have an email stating 10/1 as the eta. December makes it well over 12 weeks.

What would a good alternative to the Impreza be? I tested a Mazda 3 - blah. Would really like to have the all wheel drive, but I need an actual car. In software we call selling something that doesn't exist vaporware. I guess this would be a vapormobile.

if you are looking for a hatch there is the audi a3 quattro but that is about 30K. if you want awd and possibly more space, plenty of crossovers and i know the outback is readily available. you could also go for the maxda cx-5. it was given great reviews here http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test. but really for the mpg and space. i would rather get the outback. which isn't that much more and has pretty good mpg.

Holy crap when did you order the car? Have you looked around for any other 2012s a dealer might have in stock? Doubtful but worth a look. I would suggest the Forester or Outback. I was thinking the Mazda 3 as my alternative, but I'm really stuck on the Impreza. Are you looking only into foreign cars? Cuz the Ford Focus hatchback might be an idea (although I don't really like domestics). I would just do some shopping around. Its going to be hard to stay in the same price range and keep awd with anything else but Subaru. Good luck!

Oh and congrats on being a mom

Where are you located? What were you looking for in the '13 Impreza? Hatch, Premium, Limited? etc...

I put my deposit down on 7/17/12. Dealer put my order in on 8/8/12. MBP Premium in stick with options you can find in this thread and others. I was promised $500 on 10/24 by Amy of SoA when I take delivery for the order delay and misleading timeframes from dealer and SoA.

I got a vin on 10/17 with a 11/26 delivery date, which as I stated earlier is 15 weeks & 5 days after the order was placed. Dealer said I can get a courtesy car on 11/10. SoA is now telling me that up to 16 weeks is still within the 'typical' time frame for delivery. This is due to Subaru's huge demand right now, and they are expanding as a company faster than they can meet demand. I was told that the combination of the blue color and manual transmission was the main reason for the delay on my order.

You can get your deposit back if you wish to cancel your order without any problems. Even if your car comes in tomorrow, you can get your deposit back. You are NOT obligated to buy the car. They are legally obligated to give you your deposit back if you so choose.

I've been looking at the Focus ST, and the Ford Fusion. The Focus ST doesn't have AWD, but it has 252hp and 271 torque I believe. That's a 4-cylinder. It's not much more than an Impreza either, and gets 23/32 mpg. It's american too so if you want a configuration that isn't available on the lot you can probably put in an order and get it within a few weeks. If you're dead set on AWD then you have options if you have more money. However the only other AWD car in the "same" price range as the Impreza that I can think of is the Suzuki SX4 Crossover.

I'd recommend you get your Vehicle Order Number from your dealer and Call Subaru directly with your VON. If you ordered in August you should have at least a vin number by now. Congratulations on the little one, and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Well that might explain why this is taking awhile for me as well. Same color and getting the manual trans as well. 16 weeks is a long wait! I called SoA with my VON and they couldn't give me anything for info. They called my dealer for info instead and stated that my dealer has the info and they couldn't provide me with anything and just to call my dealer. I still haven't gotten my VIN yet and I ordered 8/9/12, same time you did. So SoA might not know anything.

I was looking at the Focus ST as well for a bit. But the turbo will just get me into trouble as I will want to mod it! Not to mention the extra hp is nice but I would rather have the awd cuz I live on a hill. I personally wouldn't get the Suzuki SX4 Crossover. If it was me I would either spend more on a different awd platform or find a non turbo fwd that gets 30mpg city and 40mpg hwy.

I just got the call from my dealer and my order has been filled and the car should be here in 3-4 weeks He also told me that they are currently not taking any more Crosstrek orders because delivery is delayed 16 weeks or more.

It's been a few days since checking in and the frustrations are mounting

arsa13 made some great recs. My order was placed 8/31 and I called SOA this week and my car was in the system with all the accessories I ordered but ETA was DEC! She said "it's actually a good sign you have an ETA" I'm not in a pinch for a car but I did check out the Focus, Mazda CX-5 and 3 and Jetta Sportwagen TDI. All good choices but the Impreza just covered what I need.

Yeah sadly it IS good you have an ETA. I ordered 8/9/12 called SoA today and all they see is that my order is in the system but no ETA. Very frustrating! I have no idea how the hell they can have nothing on my car at this point. In the end I'm going to sit down with my rep and see about getting a discount for all this inconvenience.

Good luck to it being early December!

I was told (by SoA) that manual transmission orders take much longer than CVT orders because they're pretty uncommon. Also, apparently the most popular impreza colors are DGM, SWP, and OBP. So, ordering a MBP further delayed my order. You are indeed correct. That's also very odd how SoA referred you to your dealer. I suggest when you call (SoA) again, ask for Amy or Greg. They were both very helpful, reasonable and understanding with me. My dealer didn't call me with my vin until a couple days after I got it from SoA.

I don't care for the Suzuki SX4 either. I was just offering another AWD cars] that's in the same price/class as the Impreza. I'm not going to lie, the Focus ST would be a sweet daily driver, but I still prefer the slightly lower price point of the Impreza, styling, AWD, and slightly better gas mileage over the Focus.

Hope you hear some good news soon, Max. I honestly believe that the only reason I have any information at this point is due to my persistence on both my dealer and SoA. Until I got my vin 10 days ago, I was in contact with someone at least once a day. I always changed it up though. One day I'd call SoA, then email SoA directly, then call my dealer, and then repeat again in whatever order I felt like. Personally I feel that contacting SoA by phone or email is anyone's best option because then it's documented that you made contact.

Best of luck to all.

You should also ask Subaru directly for a credit for this inconvenience. I was able to get $500 towards accessories or my down payment. I'll haggle with the dealer on the extended warranty or something when my car comes in. No need to bother them now.

I ordered a silver Sport Limited on September 3rd and was told 6 to 8 weeks. On October 24th I was given a VIN and told that it would be here (NC) by the end of November, but no promises. Guess I'll wait and see.

I agree on the Focus ST, it really does look like a fun daily driver. Honestly I'm not a fan of domestics though even though I did consider the ST awhile back. Owned a Neon-SRT4 so I've been there in the turbo fwd world before. Again just wanted something I would be a lot less likely to mod. I will most likely wait 5 years or so and buy a toy then. I'm thinking 3rd gen Mazdaspeed 3 (if they make it), BRZ Sti Version (Factory turbo would be sweet). All maxed out the ST is going to cost close to $30k before tax which means I would easily spend $4-$7k over what I am spending now on the Impreza.

Thanks for the info on calling SoA for an inconvenience, just did it! The guy said he would just give me an accessory for free that I ordered (Since I didn't want anymore, cuz I got all I wanted). So I picked the front under spoiler ($362) and he said he would make that happen. He sounded more apt to get me free accessories than to give me money for a down deposit. Either way it's something at least. He went on to say that the average wait is 8-16 weeks. I told him I was told 6-10, in which case he said those numbers were just an average. I told him they keep raising that average every time I call!! He then wanted to call my dealer for me to see if he could get any extra info. I told him go for it, but it's likely not going to net any new info. I just told him after 2 1/2+ months of waiting I have no VIN just "My dealer is getting Imprezas in November and mine SHOULD be one of them". I should be able to have more info than that!

I will like you when the car arrives ask for some compensation for something like an extended warranty. I agree no need to haggle on that now. The longer I wait the harder it is not to back out and pull the trigger on another car like a Focus ST though, lol. I miss a turbo car!

I placed my order on 9/1/12 for a MPB Sport Premium, was originally told "4-8 weeks" by the dealer, but shortly thereafter was told "December".

Just emailed SOA again yesterday and I now have a VIN at least

Hi Allen,

It's good to hear from you. Well, I am happy to report that you have a vin number now, XXXXXXXX. There is a computer generated estimate during the last week in November, but this is just an estimate. So, please do not make any plans surrounding this date because it has been known to change.

Again, I will update you as it gets closer to your delivery date. But you are always welcome to check back with me or your dealer.

Have a good weekend.
So at least that's progress. Having a VIN means it's on a ship, right? I thought conventional wisdom was than from the time you get your VIN, you're just a couple of weeks out. Is that still the case?

I'd also love to take advantage of some kind of accessories/warranty credit. Do you think SOA is who I should ask, or my dealer, or both? Sounds like arsa13 had good success with SOA so I'll ask them next time I make contact.

Another alternative is a Suzuki Kizashi AWD, they are easily found and usually heavily discounted (new) and that puts them close to the same price range as a new Impreza or certainly an XV.

I drove a Kizashi before the Impreza even made it to the states and before I preordered an Impreza. It is a solid sedan and very nice.

Only issues for me were I wanted a hatchback and did not want a CVT, the AWD Kizashi is not available with a standard transmission.

I'm glad I got my Subaru, but the Kizashi was a solid contender.

When I received my VIN, I was told it would be another week and a half until the car went through customs and had port installed options done. At the time, I was given an ETA for arrival at the dealer of three weeks, and it was spot on! In total, my wait was nine weeks, and my original ETA had been month of November. Hang in there. The wait is worth it!
