RSR has a more aggressive tread pattern.

SS595 + wet roads = Fun, but hope you never have to brake........ The rubber compound is rubbish for wet.

Seriously? ****. Well, they'll have to be better than my worn 912's, I can induce a long glorious slide with moderate pedal pressure. How are they in the dry?

Quite decent in the dry actually, but on track they only last a few minutes, and then they feel like ****. Still, I drove them for 35 laps (50secs each) once, haha. In wet on track, they are OK, probably because they heat up. Yet, only for a few laps.

The RS I always wanted to try. cheap R compound!

they're not an R compound and what are you comparing them to dry?

from what i'm told even a falken 452 blows them out of the water.

Eh, I am not tracking or autoxing, just street, but with lots of canyon driving. One guy above says they are better than sdrives, which are similar to 452's. Meh, I'll know this week.

Im werent comparing them to anything, I said they are decent. If I should compare them to the most recent tires Ive driven, my currect semi slick Yokohama Avon tires are a 10 and Pirelli P-zero a 7. For the first minutes of track driving, the SS595 would be a 6, but they dont like getting to hot, and the sidewalls are quite soft, so I must bump them to a 5. In dry. Works great for (dry) street, and they are so cheap! But this is simply my impression and not based on scientific evidence to say the least. But Ive tried all these tires on tracks as well as street, and different cars as well, and I must tell you, the 595 impressed me. A lot. In wet they just scared the **** out of me.

PS

Perhaps R-compound is the wrong word. Its what we call legal semi slicks tires where Im from. The 595RS or something is a semi slick tire, a friend of mine just ordered one for his S14, Im looking forward for a test run!

I'm in Socal, so it's dry over 300 days a year. I do hate having to drive super slow in the wet on dodgy tires, but whatever. Soft sidewalls? Now I'm glad I got 40's instead of 45's, just hope the 215/40's don't freaking rub.

They logically shouldn't, but the wild card is the Federal's width.

I'm on my second set of 595's. And I live in seattle.

I don't have a problem with them in the rain, but from my experience they do have less of a tolerance for the cold temps and do lose traction fairly fast if its <40* outside. I have more confidence with these than I did with my s.drives, which seemed to slip at any sight of wetness on the road.

These definitely aren't a wet weather tire, but they seem to handle themselves decently for being a summer tire.

sorry, the ss595's.

I figured since this thread was discussing the ss series in specific, it was a given...

Sweet! Got them on this morning, $90. That's $325 out the door all said and done, pretty good price, I think.

I only drove 20 miles so far; I didn't even check the air pressure, which I can tell is at noob settings, 32 or some nonsense. Tread is squirmy, of course, but they are significantly quieter than the worn 912's. Sweet. And they look hot, pretty wide for this little car, and fill out the wheel well much better. The black rims are pretty ghetto, but whatever.

Oh, it's the fattest rim protector EVER. If you love yur rims, these are for you.

ya gotta drive them for a while to wear the mold release off the rubber....and you may be surprised at pressures they like......adjust them in 2psi incriments and if they seem overinflated.....back off 4psi and you will likely be in the sweet spot

Yeah, the 451's took like 1000+ miles to wear the grease off. I think the max pressure on these is 45psi, or something, pretty low. Falkens max is usually 50+.

but you do NOT want to run that kind of pressure in them

I have NEVER run the max pressure in any tire I have ever used...even the re92

lol, no, I ran the 451's around 40, iirc. My wifes 452's like 38-40. But if the max on these is 45, then they'll need lower pressures.
