Default Name this noise (freshly built 04 STI)

Alright so this is another game of "Name that Noise" Finally got the car started last night at about 0100 everything is going fine so far maybe I'm just a little over reactive still. I've sent this video to my builder/tuner as well just looking for some more input while he tries to look into it. He does not think it sounds to abnormal.

-settings-
Coolant temp ~130
Oil temp~ just under normal operating temp (my gauge is not hooked up yet)
Oil pressure~ 30-35psi
fuel pressure~ 50psi
RPM range ~1k-2500
all gears but the video is in first

It's a pretty subtle noise, but to me it almost sounds like a metallic click you can hear my massive injectors "clicking" as well but this sounds a little different. At about second 23 it is the most predominant. I by no means consider myself a subie god but I'm also not a idiot the motor has about 150miles on it now it was built from a very reputable shop here in the PNW (pacific import auto) Mike and myself built the motor in the shop with him over seeing all of the work as I did it. Kind of a "teach you how to build" I'm using non-synthetic 5w50 oil. I've already changed it out once and the filter was immaculate. Also running a break-in additive as well. Just looking for another opinion is all thanks! I believe I've included all info but ask away! Motor specs to follow

Sounds like piston slap.

Have you driven it around yet? I figured out after making an ass out of myself asking a bunch of noob questions that a built motor with quality forged components takes more time than your average cast parts.

Drive it around (if you can) and put some load on the engine. One its at a normal operating temp then see if the noise persists.

Don't bust your car's ass if you don't have a stable break in tune!!!!

Check for boost/exhaust leaks. My car is running like doo doo because of that too. Those electronic pipes that let you open up your exhaust at the down pipe or whatever they do (make your car louder) leak really bad. Also, if you have a VTA type BOV ditch it and go full recirculating.

EDIT: I didn't want to post this since you already have rails/fpr but my 2008 has the dreaded stumble issue. Have your tuner dial in your rails/fpr or add 3' of fuel line after the OEM fpr to remedy the fueling issue.

These are some of the issues I've had so I'd rather pass it off for gee wiz info over you guessing if you come across it. You got a nice build going though. How do you like the flipped manifold? Pics?

Piston slap. Go drive the thing. Don't worry about it. Mine sounds the exact same.

My break in tune is about as stable as it will get I'm not worried about the tune. My car is totally drivable just a mysterious noise which I believe to be piston slap as well.

Sweet thanks She's been ridden hard and putting away wet a few times already! But in all seriousness I'm doing a mixture between a hard and soft break in. The motor see's it's fair share of positive boost.

Defiantly not a boost leak or exhaust leak. All of my waste gate lines etc. are all AN fittings and my exhaust cut-out is currently not welded into the down pipe since I've changed my piping to V-band connections. Also no issues with fueling all my pressures are solid on booth feed and return. No need to extend or shorten and lines. I do not run a BOV at all and if I did it would not really matter since I'm tuned on speed density (compressor surge FTW!) Thanks for the info though I'm chalking it up to piston slap right now. And I do enjoy my rotated manifold it took some work and $$ but it's worth it to me. Looks better IMO

I can't wait to flip the manifold. But its going to have to wait since I want to make the jump to a cosworth. Might wait till next year during winter to yank my OEM intake mani and sell it then buy the cosworth.

Process West has a new manifold out but it doesn't have the sensor lines like cosworth has.

Thanks for the pics. Give me some ideas. Don't fret either. I was wigging out about the noise too. Once I get home I'll post the YouTube video I took of mine so you can compare the sounds.
