Default yet another exhaust thread

I have searched. I think a comprehensive post might help alot of us. Also, the NA forum is unique in that I think many of us would prefer a more quiet exhaust note. I am looking at the Ion, but want to know if there are any sound clips of tried and true muffler shop alternatives - as in, specific model numbers and tubing. I want a "quiet" system that's not as quiet as stock. I just want to be able to hear the exhaust for a change. Anybody got clips?

I keep considering the SPT. 2, well 3 drawbacks:
Would have to modify to fit my OBS - if that's possible.
Doesn't increase pipe diameter, so are there performance gains?
How much for a muffler?
Other than that, I know the quality is there and the sound would probably be what I'm looking for.

I picked up a used 2.25" Stromung mid-pipe that is made to go from an RS/L cat to a WRX style muffler. I will be running a WRX muffler with it. I hope for a small increase in sound and a small increase in performance and a better look.
If you get this pipe you can choose the WRX muffler of your choice, especially used ones from this board.
SPDUSA sells the pipe for a huge $142 plus shipping.
I will post a review once its in next week.

142 for a pipe? Somebody tell me why Subaru exhaust is so expensive. I could buy a catback for another car for that.
