First purchase to arrive at my door is...... (drumroll....) Seats!
I have found some retro (early 80's) seats in like new condition. Fabric + leather, adjustable and the perfect color combination Still mocking up the mounts and sliders to install them permanently. Just a tick wide but these will work nicely! |

I'm going to try both looks and see what I like best
Have to work out mounting / install I am refreshing the OE seat sliders hoping to use them and make this a super simple install. I've de-greased them completely and am likely to attack them with POR 15 within the next day or so |

Love the seats!
Note: the passenger side seat sliders were covered in battery acid at the junkyard |

Came down with a horrible head cold (in August? seriously?!?) so no progress last night. Hope to have some energy today to get the rails rust proofed. Zicam, NyQuil .... uh.... my aching head. |

Making some progress, getting things done one bit at a time.
Door cards/panels are out, original door skins are off to be restored and repaired. Seat rails have been cleaned up - next is to sort out how to cleanly mount the new seats. Grant steering wheel is out, the OEM steering wheel back in after a little restoration Added a vintage steering wheel wrap, soaked the wheel in aloe leather conditioner for days. Had some issues wiring up the horns, they were wired correctly but it took quite a bit of digging to work out that the steering column was no longer grounded. Will fix that and hopefully tonight will have the horns firing up! Good news! Today the NOS crankcase is due to arrive - head gaskets shortly after that! Now the fun begins -Jamie |

I haven't followed this thread in over a year, but after watching a couple vintage Subaru videos, it going me to wondering how this project was going. So I jumped to the last page and was confused as to why Subie Gal was posting pictures of a similar FF-1. I thought the thread got hi-jacked by another project until I went back a few pages and read up on what was going on. I read about the sale and was sad, but was instantly stoked a couple pages later when I read that this car has a new home and will be completed. Keep up the fantastic work!

Looks like there was some paint on the steering column which eliminated the ground contact. Simple once you figure it out. Should just need a good cleaning/scuffing and be all good again I suck at wiring too. My better 1/2 resolved this issue. Not me. I yelled and threw things.... thanks! Seats were a pretty neat find! 1982 Mazda GLC Sport Seats |

awww thank you!! NOS crankcase arrived NOS head gasket set arrived Now to transfer everything over to the new crankcase. Seats are going to the fabricator tomorrow Doug at ChaseRace.com is going to mock up proper mounting mechanism utilizing the OE brackets to make the install super clean. Once that's done at least I can sit in the car, pretend to shift and make killer car noises |

Good work girl! Glad you're the one who ended up providing the FF with a new home. Good to see it is continuing on in OE style.

You're the only person I follow on Instagram just so I can follow the progress. That's not creepy, right? I've seriously followed this build for years.

Well? It's out.
But... the NOS crankcase I purchased - seller had incorrect information and of COURSE it's not right for the car. Back to the drawing board. Got to find a solution..... |

Is it in the realm of possibilities to have the holes welded and then the block re-machined? Maybe even sleeve the block?

Next up is to tear it all the way down and inquire with a machine shop or 2 Repairing the hole would indeed would be my preference. But I also have a line on some possible back up blocks as well. |
