Jamie,
I wonder is Delta or Heads up! might be able to help, or at least point you in the right direction. |

Nobody has the right equipment anymore is what I've been told.
The block is at yet another machine shop, and he's contacting all of HIS sources with no luck. Might be time to expand the search out of region. It has been 4 weeks of searching already. Thanks guys for the tips and leads. |

Following one of the leads submitted to me by a friend in my 360 club. Shipping this little guy out of state today in hopes that this repair issue will soon be history A little nervous - but determined to do what I can to get this done right! |

Out of state? All the local options people mentioned not able to?
Mostly curious seeing the guys I talk to at Bearing Service seemed very sure it wasn't a big deal. |

Did not call them as I was put into contact with the current company - aka a one man show - decades of experience - recently retired but takes side jobs. Also in Portland. I've put some faith in him based on the glowing recommendations received. SHOP INFORMATION FOR THE CURIOUS http://www.smallenginemachineworks.com/ There is no stress here. none at all. The old timers are the best. Don't worry, it isn't something that can not be fixed. If he has been in the game long enough to retire ill bet he at least knows who can do it if he can not. |

FYI Jamie, If those head studs get damaged during shipping, just replace them with some ARP studs.

Just finished reading the thread all the way though (I'll be honest, I skimmed some pages). Incredible project, will be amazing to see it finished but isn't it really the journey that is the sweetest part? I'll be a little sad when she's done too. Amazing work Kostamojen on taking the project as far as you did (BTW, is your name connected to the Star Trek DS9 reference, Kosst Amojan?).
Subie Gal, I'm glad the car is in good hands, it certainly looks like you're taking care of her properly. If you're unable to find a source to work on the engine you might try calling aircraft engine and machine shops at airports. They work with aluminum *a lot* and especially on older products. The average age for general aviation aircraft is something like 1970. |
