Default Death in Brookline, NH? Car accident...

This may be a bit off color.. even bordering on inappropriate... but I was wondering if anyone heard anything about the car accident in Brookline, NH just under a week ago. Rumor has it two people were killed in a Subaru due to excessive speed and losing control of the car. I was curious about the details surrounding the accident, including location, time and date. I believe it was in The Nashua Telegraph but they don't allow you to search on events that are more than three days old unless you are a subscriber. Anybody here have any info?

Thanks,
Fitz

One died on scene.. one died later on. That's about all that I heard as well.

EMT - That's short for "ambulance driver", right?

ummm.... no, EMT stands for emergency medical technician. You were probally just stating a retorical question, but I wasn't sure. I'm a firefighter and I'm also an EMT and I do not drive an ambulance, much less ride in one!

caryfd227 - Pat Olsen's just teasing Slvblt.

BTW, Brian's probably on his phone right now telling his buddies in CT to "get lost" if they receive a call from Mr. Olsen...

caryfd227,
Latley Brian (Slvblt) has been "internet yelling" so to speak at people for calling him and others in his profession an "ambulance driver". So, my "see I said it right" comment was kind of making fun of him, and Pat was just fueling the fire. It was just a joke.

You guys all get much respect from me. Now go turn that siren on and get to Taco Bell before it closes.

paul, I figured he was joking... now that I think about it I really don't know why I even posted that reply... maybe it's me just trying to rase my post count so I can be a specialist j/k Funny that you say that about turning on the siren to get to taco bell before it closes. I've actually been riding in a fire truck when I first got on as a rookie and traffic was really bad at a non-light control intersection and the driver turned on the red lights to get through the intersection and then turned them back off. Needless to say, he got in big trouble for that!

I've always thought of Brian as more of a "slow WRX driver".

Didn't hear about this accident in Brookline. Thanks for the heads-up... if anyone else comes across more details, I'd like to hear 'em.

From Sept 9th Nashua Telegraph..

At 6-foot-2, Ron Wells was seldom the tallest player on the basketball court, but hard work and a love of the game earned him a starting forward spot his junior and senior years at Milford High School and usually got him the respect of teammates and opponents even in pickup games.

On Saturday, Wells, 23, was one of two men killed in a single-vehicle accident on a narrow dirt road in southwest Mason when the driver, Jason Jodoin, 26, of Mason, lost control of the car and it struck a tree, according to State Trooper Raymond Tennant.

Jodoin also died in the accident. Three passengers, Jodoin’s cousin, Shawn Jodoin, 25, of Mason, Shawn’s fiancee, Julie Tuttle, 22, of Wilton, and Norman Moore, 26, of Mason, were injured, Tennant said.

Shawn Jodoin was treated at Milford Medical Center, according to a supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. Family members said he was later released.

Tuttle is at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, according to Shirley Jodoin, Shawn Jodoin’s mother and Jason Jodoin’s aunt. She said her son had gone to be with Tuttle in Worcester on Sunday.

The nature of Moore’s injuries wasn’t known, and police didn’t know which hospital he was taken to or his condition.

Tennant said the car, a 2002 Subaru Impreza, was headed west on Old Ashby Road at “a high rate of speed” around 6:30 p.m. when Jodoin lost control. He said Wells was pronounced dead at the scene and Jodoin died en route to the hospital, but didn’t say where or which hospital it was.

The accident happened about a mile from Route 123, on a winding stretch as Old Ashby Road goes around Nobby Hill. The road is often used as a cut-through between Route 123 and Walker Brook Road, which ultimately leads to both Routes 124 and 31.

Old Ashby Road was closed for several hours Saturday night while Greenville, Mason and state police and the Mason Fire Department investigated, Tennant said.

Wells’ father, Ronald Wells Sr., recalled the importance of basketball, friends, and a sense of humor in his son’s short life from his Wilton home on Sunday. “He was a smart young man who had many, many friends and loved basketball,” Wells said.

His son, who graduated from Milford High in 1997, made his senior year his best, Wells Sr. said, being named the player of the year on the hoop team and making the honor roll for the first time.

“He really got it together that year,” his father said.

Ron Wells hadn’t ruled out college, but didn’t have any concrete plans to attend either, his father said, because he had yet to decide what he wanted to study.

Instead, he worked as an assistant manager at Sport Shoe Center in Merrimack, where he had been employed for two years. “He did very well there; I know he enjoyed it quite a bit,” Wells Sr. said.

Ron also found time to play golf, often playing the shorter, “pitch-and-putt,” par-3 courses.

That, too, took a back seat to hoops. Ron played in summer leagues at Hampshire Hills Fitness Club in Milford and could often be found back on the courts, usually in nearby Greenville, in a friendly pickup game.

Ron was currently calling his parents’ Intervale Road house home and, according to his father, kept them entertained with his humor.

Wells Sr. recalled an incident in high school one day that evidenced his son’s love of having fun. “He was clowning around, and thought it would be funny to lift a desk into the air, but it slipped and hit him on top of the head,” Wells Sr. said. Ron was plenty embarrassed – “he made himself look like a fool that day, for sure,” he said.

Wells Sr. said he and his wife, Bonnie, didn’t know the driver, Jason Jodoin well, and guessed he and their son had been friends for four or five years.

Shirley Jodoin said on Sunday the five had been at Shawn’s home, which he shared with Jason, doing some packing and cleaning because Jason had just gotten his own apartment and was getting ready to move.

“They were not only cousins and roommates, they were best friends,” Shirley Jodoin said.

She thinks they took a break to get something to eat when the accident occurred.

“They were probably just going to come back, play some music – the group dabbled in playing musical instruments together – or watch a race on TV,” Jodoin said.

Police told Wells Sr. the group was heading to The Country Mile, a store and sub shop on Route 31 in Greenville. Jodoin said that’s probable; they went there often.

Wells Sr. doesn’t know the spot very well. “It’s not an area of town I’m familiar with, and one I don’t want to get to know,” Wells Sr. said.

Jason Jodoin had lived in Mason for 15 years, and was a 1995 graduate of Mascenic Regional High School in New Ipswich. He was a manager at DFA Auto Repairs in Nashua.

Ron Wells Jr. is survived by a brother, Michael, 36, of Concord, and a sister, Amanda Adkins, 29, who lives with her husband, Adam, in the other half of her parents’ two-family home.

Though I'm usually very careful when driving, there have been too many times that could have been me. I hope this, along with the other tragic accidents, serves as a wakeup call for everyone who has done something slightly stupid in their cars (read: all of us). The Impreza is one of the safest cars one can be in, but that safety all flies out the window when the driver is careless.

Stay safe.
