*NEW*UPDATE 2-21-11, STAGE 2 DYNO!!!The Avery Project, 2011 WRX Build Thread
Dyno List(times the car will see the dyno) Baseline-car was dynoed 11-29-10(graph in this post) E-Spec Stage 2-car was dynoed 1-19-11(graph in 3rd post) Front Mount Wastegate Turbo Inlet+ Crank Pulley E-85 New Turbo Built Bottom End BIG Turbo(secret shhhhhh) Track List(times the car will for sure be on the track) E-Spec Stage 2(full bolt ons and E-85) New Turbo Max out that new turbo on the new bottom end Big Turbo I am doing a build with a friend(Reclusive) for a 2011 Dark Grey Metallic base model WRX. The car was order in late August and was received 11-26-10 During this wait I had contacted many companies about our build, and have had some great help throughout all of them. Josh from Import Image Racing is helping, Will from GrimmSpeed, and last but not least, Erkel from Tach Motor Works/E-Spec are all involved in this build, and helping us out BIG time, much thanks to them! Well, September came and we began the process of ordering for the build. We contacted Josh to see if he was interested and helping us out with this build, and Josh was, so we began ordering parts....lots of them Those are just a handful of the parts that have been ordered. Not pictured is an external wastegate setup(44mm tial), fuel rails, injectors, and fuel pump and am awaiting a front mount that is being developed. The car is going to be tuned on E85, but we want to max the stock turbo out on 93 first, then on E85. The car is being tuned by E-Spec(Erkel) at Tach Motor Works. Tomorrow(11-29-10) the car is getting a baseline dyno, and about a week after this the car will be getting a LOT of these parts put on and installed. This is a 100% BONE STOCK baseline. 12-1-10 Car CURRENTLY has a catback(Invidia N1 Race), Invidia Downpipe, Agency Power intake, Fortune Auto Coilovers, Cobb stage 2. 12-5-10 Car hit a fuel cut at about 5k rpm, and has MAXED out the stock injectors on just the Cobb Stage 2. 1-2-11 Agency Power header, and 1000cc DW Injectors were installed. Tomorrow the car will be going to Tach Motor Works to get a tune from E-Spec. 1-3-11 While installing the Walbro 255. During this install we ran into a problem with the fuel pump. The housing(black piece) on the 255(pump without the sock on it) is too short, and doesn't have the clips to seat and secure the pump properly, so it requires some modification. 1-6-11 We decided to go with a double pumper set up....to find no one makes them for the 2008+ cars.....Erkel contacted Buschur Racing, an they are making one for us we should have back next week! The car was going to be road tuned and dynoed this week (first week of January) but we ran into a problem with the fuel system. We are currently trying to get a double pumper in tank assembly in the car, and will be on the dyno after! Should try to have the assembly in the car Friday if we can get a hold of it. ALL UPDATES WILL BE CONTINUED 3 POSTS DOWN, RAN OUT OF ROOM!

1-15-11 We got the pump back on 1-14-11 after sending it to Buschur Racing only 3 days ago! Dropped right in, with no problems at all, works perfect, and the secondary pump only turns on once we hit 7psi of boost. 1-18-11 Just some pics our friend took for us. 1-19-11 Graph from today! Inital pull was from a street tune from E-Spec at Tach Motor Works, and the other graph was after some tweaking from him on the dyno. Big thanks to E-Spec for the tune, Vinny Ten Racing for the dyno, Tach Motor Works, Import Image Racing and GrimmSpeed! UPDATE 1-23-11 There is MUCH more coming in the near future, but this is just a taste of how the build is happening. The overall goal is to rear a 9.99 in the car....we know we will break, we know we will need MANY parts, and we will go through MANY obstacles, and are prepared for this. Bryan(the owner of the car, Reclusive) decided he wanted to almost, guinea pig the car out for everyone to see where things break. He would like to max out the stock turbo, see where that decides to stop. Max out the trans, because apparently they fixed the 5 speed, and see where that will break. See at what point the axles go, as well as the stock motor. After all these parts break, they will obviously be replaced with something to handle this kind of power. A build sheet for everyone to view will be made public if wanted, but not everything can be said yet. Hope you enjoy the build, and thanks for the support! Wow talk about not wasting any time, dang! Do have a formal mod list drawn up? What is the purpose of this build, to race or show or to have fun with?
Can't wait to see pics!!! Oh and nice job Josh, IIR is the win! Will |

Rear coil overs in, need to adjust the height all around, they are being a bit stubborn. Needs to sit down a bit still. UPDATE 2-21-11 Went on the dyno again. We added the intercooler from Fast Motorsports, and an EBC from GrimmSpeed. We had a few boost leaks we had to fix up, so we will post a more updated graph in a day or 2. But not bad numbers for only 12-13psi at 5500 RPMS. Last edited by danrheller; 02-21-2011 at 11:27 PM. |

yea haah, we discussed it as we were planning this...and kind of decided to guinea pig the car out a bit to see what happens. I really am curious about this transmission.....the part I am most excited for is after the new motor/turbo/trans....see what these axles can hold up to with some slicks ^_^

Awesome. I look forward to seeing the whole process. I had an 03 and 06 wrx, and with the sti turbo in the 2011 tranny breaking power probably doesn't require a turbo swap I'm guessing. It'll b interesting to find out. My 2011 ill keep below levels of breaking the tranny, but I gotta know what those are, or any other weak spots. It is a daily driver for me after all.

yea there is, i don't know much about standalones honestly, and didn't even discuss with a tuner at that point, we just needed an ap to get us by for the bolt ons until we went for a full tune.

Pretty sure the turbo has been 100% decided on now.
I will probably change my mind in an hour like I always do. |

well we don't want the 6speed from the sti....not a fan of the gearing in it for what we are trying to use the car for. So a PPG 5 speed was the way to go. Intake manifold....either we are going to use a ported STI intake(costs nothing to buy basically) or a Magnus long runner. And the diffs, but I find no need for the STI diffs as of yet.....axles...that's a different story, and I don't see stock STI axles holding up to what will be thrown at them, so aftermarket would have been they way anyway.

I will certainly keep that in mind. I have been talking to a local guy here, but still not 100% on where I am going. I know a few people who have went there. I was also considering Tach.
