Default MadDad GR STi Street Series Turboback, Catback, Downpipe

You Nasioc folks are going to benefit for "not" knowing about the build up of this exhaust. Its been in pre-production testing since last January, racking up thousands of miles on two different test cars. Since Daddy's SCP/MadDad have been MIA over here for a while you didn't have to suffer the long wait that some others did. We've have a few pre-orders for this exhaust that are 8+ months old and the customers still want the exhaust...talk about waiting for what you like. So our MIA status in this case will be a boon to some of you because right now there is no wait for this new system. Its at our door right now. We need to do inspection and receiving so I don't suspect we'll be shipping anything until tomorrow or maybe Wedenesday but outside of that there are no lines(after we ship some of the early pre-orders) and no waiting. The details surround this exhaust are below with a pictoral build up over the last year. This is an absolutely GEORGOUS exhaust to look at . The twin canister design and the staggered quad tips are a site to behold. In typical MadDad style extensive testing and refinement was done to ensure this exhaust sound right both inside the cabin and out. You'll get the refined highway manner MadDad Whisper series are known but in an exhaust that is designed to be bit more flashy for those that want the "show" as much as the "go". The only downfall here is that this pre-order/gb pricing is not going to last long. I'm going to let it ride for 30 days since you folks didn't benefit from knowing about it earlier. On the flip side...there is no waiting. Let me know if you folks have any questions. Here a video as well since I know someone will ask "clip please" .

There has been a year long build up for this exhaust. You can read about the built up in this long running Announcment thread: Street Series Turboback Announcement

Its been a full year of revisions and real world street testing with two pre-proudciton units on cars as early as last January...11 months ago. So to say I'm excited about the release of our new Street Series turboback for the GR STi is a major understatement. We're making changes to our Whisper series GR exhaust later this month. Changes that will make it hint more expense but also changes that will reset the bar on a quiet performance 3" catback is so the Street Series is showing up at a perfect time. Why?

The new Essentials Street Series is not a loud exhaust. It similiar to what the origonal first gen Whisper series was, so it slots in nicely and will fill in a gap for us since the Whisper series is going to new quiet levels that will probably be too quiet for some in its next release. So consider the Street series the "everyday" enthusiasts exhaust..or like the origonal first gen Whisper. It's for those that don't want something over the top loud, those that want something with a great highway manner(no droning) and those that want a great sporting sound character and look but also remain very tasteful(just look at the tips on this).

I feel in short order this will be the most popular exhaust we've ever offered and for a limited time you can get an extra $200 off the catback($849 vs $1049), an extra $70 off the new 200cpi(a big differentiator) metal substrate race downpipe($479 vs. $549), and an additional $75 off if you order both..that's an extra $345 savings over what will be the everyday prices for this complete turoback. Best part is you won't have to wait a year to receive it. This product is due at our door end of this week. Below are direct links to order the parts and a pictoral build up of this exhaust from the earliest pre-production pics to the latest revisions that went into the production units. There is also a link to the Announcement forum above if you want to read the details behind the photos and get additional info on the product.

Direct Catback link: MadDad Street Series STi Catback
Direct Downpipe link: MadDad Street Series 200 Cell Race Downpipe (note the photo is old, production units have the extra bung in the head of the downpipe).

Coupon code with purchasing both: SAVEMORE

A few pics. I will upload more after a take few more of the production units just received.

You can also find a few more on our facebook page.

Here is a YouTube click

Flex joint in the intermediate pipe was added to final production as well.

Snapped a couple of quick pics earlier today. More to come.

This is the splitter portion of the axleback section.

This is showing where the right exhaust tips mount. You can see the bolt holes are oval. The tips are removable and you can adjust how much you want them to stick out or tuck, at least to a degree, with via the oval bolt hole mounts. Removable tips also means you could send them out to get ceramic coated black if that's the look you want..or remove them once a year for a spring cleaning.

The first section of the intermediate pipe(the flex joint end mounts to the downpipe)

Your just not going to see nicer welds anywhere at any price. This is a show quality exhaust..which was one of the design requirements(show as well as go)

We'll have a Whisper series end of the first quarter of 2011 March/April.

Default Dyno Chart

I've had a couple people ask me hugh much power the exhaust makes. It does pretty well. We dyno tested this unit early on (last January) on a Mustang dyno. So don't get too taken at the peak numbers, its the curve that matters:

Before/After using Cobb OTS STGII we saw +22hp/+65 lbs peaks. Those were peaks but the curve looks very good. During most of the midrange your getting a +48hp gain. This is an OTS map, I'm sure there is more to be had with a good protune. This car was fully stock except for the Street series turboback.

Default Any issues installing on a 2011 STI hatch

I've been looking around for a tubo-back exhaust for my 2011 STI hatch and this looks like a good choice. Have you installed any on a 2011 yet and do you think there would be any issues?

Haven't installed on a 2011 yet but we have on a 2010. We found there were some minor clearence difference related to the intermediate pipe/shielding on 2010's. That was actually addressed for the production units we have in stock, the extra clearance was added. I would assume no issues. We'll take it back for a full refund if there was an issue.

We have a Whisper for the GR 2008+ Hatch that is basically done as far as design work and testing. First production of that will be end of Janauary. We will start work on the Sedan probably sometime in February with a probably ETA of about April.

Thanks, that sounds good. I am going to order now to lock in the sale price but I probably won't install it till the spring - my garage is unheated and it is too cold in the Northeast to lay on the floor for half the day

I was thinking of doing the same thing (though I have never seen a heated garage)

My former next door neighbor had a quality hydraulic lift in his garage and radiant heat flooring. The floor was poured concrete but had hot water hoses lined within it. The hot water heater was run off of used truck oil so the heating was almost free....he was a truck driver and certified CAT mechanic so just routine oil changes on his truck and a number of others that he serviced from his house garage paid for the heat. I was jealous, but he also let me use the garage any time I wanted. I miss him .

Beautiful work as usual, Rich. I'd been eyeing a Q300, but you officially just changed my mind. Hopefully I'll get back to you within the next month with an order, just need to check the budget.

Someone else might know this for sure. I just have not looked under the 2011 WRX Hatch to verify the axleback section. It "looks" like the same bumper/valance cutout which would lead me to believe it will all mount up the same, but until I get to the dealer or get a car into the shop I don't know for 100% sure. I would think somewhere on the forum someone has probably figured this out. I just have not got around to verifying it yet myself.

I figure I'd give this one a bump before the full turboback extra discount goes away. The bonus $75 turboback discount will no longer be valid come close of business on the 15th, and the origonal pre-order prices still currently posted will be done at the end of this month....so just a friendly reminder.
