Post Subaru at Bonneville Salt flats ever?

Does anyone know if there has ever been a Subaru run at the salt flats? Everything else has been run there.

It would be interesting to find out just how fast the boxer could run.

I don't exactly remember where and when, but I remember a Legacy twin turbo wagon being run at some salt flats there. It was the fastest wagon at that time I think

The record for world's fastest wagon went to a Legacy GT at Bonneville in '93. Average speed was 249+ kph. http://www.subaru.co.nz/scrap_archives/awards.html

That record was broken by a Legacy GT-B in '98 in Colorado. Average speed 270+ kph http://www.fhi.co.jp/subaru/bode30.htm

I wish they would stop rubbing these JDM cars in our faces.

Wow!! Now that is fast! Thanks for the replies. I was just really curious. I think it would be fun to see just how fast you could go with one of these.

OH, 240+kph and 270+kph? That's 149mph and 168mph respectively. Hmmm...Doesn't seem as fast. Guess I should read deeper.

So...I would think that a properly tuned and prepped 2.5l should be able to crack the 200Mph barrier. Of course it would require big moola. It would be interesting to be the first to break the big 200 with a subaru flat four.

Just dreaming...

Keep in mind that these are fairly stock wagons. From the FHI page:
"Specifications for the model used are essentially the same as those for commercially available models, with the addition of a six-point roll cage, fire extinguisher, five-point seat belt, and safety bucket seat as safety equipment."

he he

my boss just gave me a couple of the hats from the 1998 event.

It says "Legacy" in the middle, with "World '98 Speed Record Challenge" written around it on the outside. Pretty cool.
