From the posts i've read, equal-length is going to eliminate the traditional subie boxer sound. Unless you've heard a car with equal, or near-equal headers, i wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it. They sound different, but incredibly mean.

I have the $$$ and own the Cobb spicy cams and equal length headers. As Dave mentioned, you lose some of the boxer sound. Surprisingly, when I put the cams in, I got some of the boxer sound back that the headers took away...

I have a WAV file that is a comparison between my Brullen complete system and a borla-random tech-stromung setup on another 2.5RS. If someone could host it (WTDR.com won't do WAV's) I'd be glad to submit it.
As well, I can take some video from inside and outside my car and another RS near me that has a borla-random tech-greddy setup for more comparisons. Again, I ultimately need someone to host things once I digitize things. Last edited by AJ711; 10-21-2004 at 12:09 PM. |

I will have vid clips of my COBB header back exhaust very soon. I will be installing the headers either tomorrow or saturday. But if i were you, I woudl get the headers to free up teh exhaust, which will in turn help the future purchase of cams. The cams will see more power with the headers.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions --
Now the bigger question: Brullen -- Cobb -- or TWE equal lengths??? Big purchase here and I'm kinda swayed towards the Brullens- Also with equal lengths can I just forget about having a "stealthy" sound when just cruising.. This is an everyday driver and I can't be obnoxious with the sound of the car -- It's just not me -- now a mean sounding car is different Oh yeah -- Jamie, I've slacked on all the Orlando events.. hope to see you someday.. latah |

Oh yeah, would the new headers necessitate the need for a new high-flow cat?

XRayHipp - If you've got an auto car, it rules out the use of the TWE set-up (won't clear the auto tranny). Not too sure about the Cobb set-up for clearance on the auto tranny set-up. The iON/Brullen header system does clear the auto tranny though. Comes with a new hi-flow cat. There's a post on the vendor's forum about them -> http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654549
Here's a recent review with a relatively stock car-> http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653216 |

headers
I would'nt rule out the MRT Headers, they give quite a nice boost in power, sound good, with the right exhaust and include a high flow cat. All for a price that can't be beat. I've had mine for two years in New England(lot's of salt) and pass emissions with flying colors. My 2 cents, Good luck,
Keith |
