goo gone, put it on, let it sit for 5 minutes, and the stuff will just wipe off. I didn't even use a hairdryer and my trunk looks perfect

agreed.

for really sticky stuff or to get under the emblem when you first start, consider using your Blockbuster card - fully laminated, softer than a regular credit card, easier than using your fingernails, won't scratch the paint

I used WD40 and a paper towel after I had removed all I could with the aforementioned Blockbuster card and hair dryer. Peeled the stickies off without a problem. Waxing right away is an extremely important step, though.

Is it better to use a heat gun over a blow dyer to get the badges off? or are they pretty much the same?

pretty much the same, heat guns can get really hot and melt the paint. Debadging subaru's shouldn't be much of a problem on a hot summer day, or just a blow dryer and some goo gone.

eraser wheel, goo gone or any other type of residue remover is wasting your time..

DONT USE A HEATGUN. the temp is way to hot, a hairdryer on medium setting is more than enough, you just need to soften the glue, not melt it.

I sprayed on some WD40, let it settle for a few minutes and scraped everything off with a credit card.

heat gun can damage clear coats because it gets way too hot way too fast.
