slowhat I have to thank you... a lot. This is one of the best accessories I've ever seen for any phone. $35 isn't really too bad when you consider Verizon usually charges the same or more for car docks, and those are usually phone specific.

Edit: Just took a look at the updated OP. Looks good! You were able to pull the dash off without any tools the 1st time you did it too?

yeah, i love the Tetrax mount. Everyone that sees mine ends up getting one.

and yeah i tried with a trim panel tool, but it was too thick, to i just dug in and pulled. Granted, it was easier after the initial removal.

New Pioneer inventory just came in at my local audio shop! Hopefully I'll have a 4400 in my car by the end of the week.

I'm installing this unit into my 2008 Impreza 2.5i soon and was wondering if anyone has had this unit and was able to just ground out the parking brake wire. I'm kinda electrically challenged when it comes to relays and so on, but I had heard one could just ground out that wire and it should allow for video/Bluetooth without having the parking brake engaged. I'm hoping that in the 2008, they didn't require a signal to it and I could just ground it somewhere inside the cubby hole where the head unit goes.

you will need a bypass if you want function while the parking brake is no engaged. buy one off ebay, if you can't make one. if you can wire your harness, you can wire a bypass. it's very simple. i promise.

Got it. Thanks. I can wire up a harness pretty easy, so I guess I will give it a try. Can I just buy a bypass from radioshack or some auto parts store?

from radio shack you'd be buying a relay and building it yourself. someone can probably chime in on how to make one.

i'm lazy, and years back i installed a bypass similar to the one here .

Just watch the demo vid again. I can't wait for my 4400 to arrive! The deal breaker with the 2400/3400 was the usb port on the front. I'd hate to have a usb wire dangling out of the front of my HU!! I don't care how convenient it might seem, I'd much rather have a clean install with the usb connection made in back and out of sight.

How good does the HD Radio sound? I am wondering if I can get by with just HD Radio or will I need to add Sirius?

I also ordered the 'jdm' double din trim piece but now and worried it might be too tight a fit for the screen to open as it should...

If you buy a relay at Radio Shack for a DIY, look for the smallest one you can find with a 12 Volt coil. It only needs 2 switch contacts (closed when relay engaged).

The one on eBay is a huge 30 Amp automotive relay. Complete overkill for this application (and could even cause problems if you add a speaker amp -- the amp remote turn-on lead on some HUs may not be able to drive one of those huge relays plus multiple amps).

I recommend the smaller solid-state bypass units that you'll also see on eBay. They're only a couple $ more. Picture from not too long ago:

HD radio sounds awesome. Unfortunately I hardly ever use the radio function on a H/U, but you won't be disappoint.

don't be discouraged quite yet. It only takes a bit of room on the top for this unit to open/close properly. There's probably a way to make that happen. hell, it may not be an issue at all.

I already ordered the other relay from eBay, but this one doesn't look too bad. I don't plan on installing a amp in the car, but if I do, I may go this route in the future. Thanks for letting me know though. I do not know much about relays, so went with one that someone else recommended first and will give that a shot once it comes in.

Thanks for HD feedback! I am looking forward checking it out

I ordered the mini solid state one from Amazon - just search for 'Parking Brake Override Bypass Fully Automatic Video in Motion Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD AVH-P2400BT AVH-P3400BH AVH-P4400BH' (Not sure if we can post the direct link on here) It was 9.99- not bad. It looks way easier than the manual bypass I did with my AVIC x930, which involved repositoning one of the pin's in the harness (PITA!).

I will post pics of the JDM trim once I get it all installed!

I emailed for the 20 pin harness but have not heard back yet, hopefully he can get back to me soon.

I also have wires with the proper pins that will work on some AVICs. That trick doesn't work on the AVH-P4400BH, though.
