I Need help in the Chicago suburbs
I am in desperate need of a Chicagoland WRX mechanic who can diagnose and possibly repair my 2009 WRX. Specifically, the transmission or differential. And, the firewall mounts.

Those places are usually booked up for months. And, dealerships aren't trustworthy.

Not sure why you'd trust a random guy off the internet any more than a dealership, but OK - good luck. That thread is there for exactly this question, and there are reviews of the shops and service centers available. If you really just want some guy, craigslist might be a better approach.

Vendor reviews

Ask some of the shops what their rates are, what services they excel at, etc. Some prefer tuning/aftermarket support, others prefer maintenance/troubleshooting etc. |

The usual dealer fix is to fully reweld the firewall stuff, but there is also a less involved approach of just drilling out the spot welds and replacing with bolts/washers/nuts to secure the area. You might try DIY'ing that if you can. |
