Default New to open source

Hope im posting in the right thread..
But otherwise, order my cable and downloaded everything I needed to opensource. Car is currently tuned via open source, but needs minor tweaking here and there. Buddy of mine say I smell like ***** and stuff, soo I'm running highly rich. Over boosting to over 20psi+. Where would I begin to do soo? Logging of cause, I've read every single post about starting to tune, just want some direct help from people. Where to look at with my problems. Thanks.

Okay.......who tuned the car? Do you have a wideband to verify your AFR? I think you need to spend a little more time looking around on Romraider's site before doing anything. They have a large "how to" subforum that is impossible to miss.

No clue who tuned it, previous owner claimed it was. I can get a wideband gauge to verify, but its obvious that I'm too rich because I smell it when I stop. But ill look at the how to

If you're getting that rich smell from just cruising around, you won't need a wideband to troubleshoot it. It's still worthwhile to get one anyway, but they're only really required for good AFR measurements under boost.

The car's built-in O2 sensor will work fine or idle and cruise. What's your AFR like in those conditions?

Your fuel smell could also be due to a mechanical problem, so you could also open the hood, stiff around, and look for leaks.

I haven't been able to access my afr yet, awaiting on my cable.

But I've check everything, solid. However, in boost, I've noticed that I spike boost well over 18, and I can tell its hesitating alittle bit, has if its dumping to much fuel.

Once I get my cable, I will do a log and post here. I just want to know where to look at exactly when I get it, and where to adjust abit.

First thing to do when you get it is pull a learning view and look at your learned AFR trims and knock correction.

Also, your profile just says "05 Impreza". There are three models of Impreza, the non-turbo base, the 2.0L TD04 WRX, and the 2.5L VF39 STi. All of them are completely different. It would be helpful if you would update your profile with the exact model vehicle you're referring to.

just because you can smell exhaust gases, doesnt mean your car is running rich.

If it has no cats, it will smell. end of story. I cant even describe the shear number of people that tell me about how my Cobra run's rich... even though it idles at 15.4:1 AFR.

Your nose is not a calibrated piece of test equipment. Don't be an ass, ASSumptions are for idiots.

I had a 02 before my 05, and my 02 smelled nothing like mine and I was fully catless for both. Soo I know for a fact there is a difference and that my car doesn't run right under boost.

And sorry. 05 impreza wrx 2.0l, 16g with sti pinks. Full exhaust and intake, sti top mount, perrin ebc.

How to make data logs:
http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewt...hp?f=33&t=5384

How to read them:
http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewt...hp?f=33&t=6156

Are you having this problem at idle, during cruise, or during pulls?
Whatever the case, give us a couple of logs that show the problem.
A picture of Learning View would be helpful too.

Hard to tell, I've noticed it too alittle at 4th gear too. It's between 4 to redline.

I'm runing a perrin ebcs, 16g, sti pinks, intake, no headers, sti uppipe, full greddy tbe, and a turboxs rfl bov/bpv.

I'm convinced that it could be a boost leak, but I've replaced all my boost lines, I still have stock inlet, which to me, might be the issue. I will have to run a leak down.

However, I deciced to run a mbc and see if it do the same. I did a 4th gear pull. And between 3 to 4, I get 10psi. At 4 to redline, it begins to increase to a max of 18psi which is where I set it at. Soo to me, I might not have a leak after all and may have a faulty ebcs.. inputs please! And I had my buddy log while I did the pulls, I boost to 22psi, afr is at 11.3, and no knocks what so ever.

You already have it reading from the ECU right? So just click the "log to file" button.

When you click it, does the status message in the top right change to "writing to log file", with a filename in the directory you expect?

You claimed you have just read about every post. I'm sure almost all of them mentioned data-logging.

It says its logging, but the moment that i left off the gas, and shift, it just quits and stops logging. i did this about 5 times and same results.

on the other side, I bought a new EBCS. Maybe mine is bad, or going bad. So i will somehow grab logs, and post them. In the meantime, i shall wait for my new EBCS to come in. I had a Perrin one, bought a cobb.

Good job... You'll need a new tune for the new EBCS.

Could be a bad connection, or the write stalling if you have a platter driving your laptop that skips with the shock.

Why would I need a tune? I have one right now. I lowered my values on boost and wastegate, and it won't pass 18, but still fluctuates from 15 to 18.

My buddy has my laptop when I'm driving. It says reading data. Or logging. Not sure because I'm trying to pay attention in driving. But he deff logs it.
