Sloping hood question...
My wife just came back from a test drive of a Limited Tribeca w/leather. She loves the car, and if we bought it we would be getting a wonderful price. However, she has an important concern: Once she adjusts mirrors, drivers seat, wheel, etc. and is in a comfortable driving position, she cannot see the hood of the Tribeca (it is important to her that she sees where the front end is in relation to cars in front of her, etc.). I acknowledge her concern in that she explained that when she was getting ready to exit a parking lot during her test drive, she inadvertantly pulled the car out alittle too far into the street, causing on-coming drivers to swerve to avoid hitting the front end of the car. (This happened during a previous test drive of the Tribeca as well.) When I test drove, I had no problem (I'm taller than she is). If she elevates her seat (to a height so that she could see the hood of the car) then her feet have trouble working the pedals. Currently, she drives a '96 4Runner and doesn't have this problem. Since she will be the primary driver of the Tribeca, I wondered if putting the stock Hood Protector on the hood would help alleviate her concern-- the protector would rise up off the hood a little and maybe give her something to see (???).
Has anyone else heard of this "complaint"? or own the Hood Protector? Any other ideas?? |

Check out this thread
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=916692 My daughter is 4' 11" and a teenager. She hasn't had any problems. Has your wife tried an 06 4runner? It isn't going to be the same as her 96 either. |

I had to go downstairs and sit in the car to check. The hood protector sits about one inch up higher at the lip. It might help some but not a ton. The way I sit, leaning back some, I'm not sure I can see where the corners are on the B9 or my Forester for that matter. I just get use to the size of the car I guess. I'm pretty short myself at 5'6".

You could always put some of these on it.
(the poles on either side of the plow to let the driver see where it is) On another note, my mom currently drives a 99 Dodge Grand Caravan and its impossible to see the front of the hood from the drivers seat....and I'm 6'2". Its no problem once you get used to it. Danny |

I'd say one just need time to get used to whatever new car you're driving. If you find hood line is a big problem (first time I ever heard such complains), wait until you try to back up the car or change lanes on highway. The later two are the most common complains for Tribeca owners. However, after a few months driving it, I now feel quite confident to backup or change lanes with my Tribeca.
