I may need to send a pm your way eventually. After I relocate the battery and fuse box, there are some things that I haven't seen in this thread or others regarding how to pull it off

@onesicksoob - while I have made some progress as noted above (notice, not only the fluid reservoir relocated to the trunk, but that whole side shaved down) I still have a LONG ways to go. Such is the life of a married man who works too much
All in good fun, you have to start somewhere.

No harder than other vehicle make really, just Subaru people always seem to be ngine the rest of the world. I haven't spent any money I wouldn't have spent anyway doing mine, aside from $300 or so on the pedal box setup.

It's a slow night...here is what I accomplished since my last post.

Holes filled

Ground smooth-ish. That was my last grinder disc. :facepalm:

If my calculations are correct I will have this all smoothed out with another eleventyfour billion hours of sanding.

Don't get suckered in to buying a small-frame battery such as the Odyssey PC680 or similar. They simply are not up to the task - especially once they are relocated to the truck. I've gone through 2 of them before I gave up and just bought a full-size battery.

Also, no matter the size, stay FAR AWAY from "dry cell" batteries. If they are discharged below 8vdc EVEN ONCE, they are ruined. This information came straight from Odyssey.

This is pretty much how my bay is sitting right now. This is after "stage 1". This winter is when I break out the big guns and do the full tuck.

Plan:

Brakes
* Relocate ABS unit using custom SS lines.
* Relocate brake biasing valve to the cabin under the dash.
* Relocate ABS sensor wires
* Relocate all hard lines on the firewall

Harness
* Complete custom mil-spec harness with a single entry point through the firewall. The only OEM harness parts being reused are the sensor plugs. Anything not being used will be removed.
* Relocation of fuse box. I'm not ready to disclose the location yet.

Bay
* Removal of every hole, bracket, or threaded boss not being used.
* Repainting
* Replacing OEM fan setup with custom FAL setup

Other
* Most of the vac lines have already been "streamlined" and replaced with braided nylon AN lines, but I still plan on rerouting a couple for a cleaner appearance.
* Currently, my 2GA battery cable for the relocated battery is ran under the car. I'm going to reroute the cable through the passenger cabin.

Check out Summit Racing. They carry the Taylor and Moroso kits, as well as their house brand. I'll likely be going with the Summit Premium kit for my 'Stang.

Not sure if it has been addressed on here.
When it comes to relocating the power steering reservoir, can the inlet/outlet (to the reservoir) be anywhere in relation to level with the pumps suction/discharge?

Ok so if i get the taylor box will 12 ft of wiring be enough? For the negative and the postive wiring? Thanks for the help 5lipstream!

Ill start my rides thread up shortly. I have the XS mini battery and it wasnt the best idea like 440 cca i believe. Since the car barely sees pavement

Am I the only one that does not like a fully shaved bay? I love the semi-shaved bay that's just been cleaned up. Something about the super smooth look of a fully done bay looks unnatural.

If I am understanding you correctly I am with you. I could have easily welded sheet over everything and made it 100% smooth, but I like it better being able to still see the indents and all the spots I seam welded and things like that. I did weld shut all the holes and only put back the ones that are neccesary but in more discrete places. I re-did the every harness in the car for cleaner routing so there is only one hole for wiring in the firewall, the 2 lines to the heater core, and the throttle cable. Thet are all tucked in by the transmission tunnel.

^I'm with you.

I personally think the one 5lipstream posted above is perfect. It's cleaned up a lot but not so much that it looks fake.

Finally got around to ordering all the materials for the battery relocation. Picked up a distribution block as well - now time to to decide:

Is a circuit breaker and 150 amp in-line fuse overkill?
