OMGHi2U SRS CBE "TYPE-RE" with the 'stock looking' muffler, ie not the straight angle canon.

Anyone have it? Video clips?

I'd love to have a Maddad Whisper or Q300, but don't want to spend the $600 or so.

The SRS for $300 off ebay seems like a decent compromise.

it's ebay garbage.
The pipes leak, the welds break and it rusts.

So you've owned it or you just dissing ebay 'junk' in general?

I only found 2 threads so far, guess it's a new exhaust that hasn't been around for a long time

IWSTI thread: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-exhau...n-exhaust.html

I know a few people who have run them and hated them and have seen some negative reviews.

I run and SRS N1 style cbe. I've had it for roughly 75k miles. Welds are fine and it hasn't started to rust "yet". Oh and it was 130$ delivered.

I'm running catless and at idle you can barely tell I'm running an exhaust. On the throttle it's gets loud but I love the sound.

No complaints here..

Just my thoughts. Go for it OP.

I think you're confusing it with the Surewin/Speedtech/GMS/Ebay catback... this is not the same.

This type re definately looks hot. Some review would be nice. I mean, there are enough reviews on the N1 style and Cobb style. Still haven't seen one for this type RE. A bump to this thread.

Sorry guys, not trying to do the obvious, these pictures can be seen on the only few pages that come up from google search. But thought that i should post them anyway so that others have an idea what we are talking about here.

Taken from SRS's home page, the Type RE:

It certainly looks good. I'd like to see a vid of somebody revving it. Ebay parts have improved in quality over the last few years.

This is the only Youtube vid I could find, and I don't even know if it's a STi (the SRS TYPE-RE is also available for a Nissian)

I commented in the YT, asking the pertinent questions. -edit, The owner of this vid also has a vid of an '04WRX Wagon uploaded, so I'm assuming it's safe to say it's a WRX.

I have one of their grapefruit canon exhausts, I bought them when SR*S was pretty new and the catback was only $180 shipped.

It's a great piece for $180, well worth it. Fittment was decent, the midpipe hangs a little lower but that's the only issue with the exhaust. The welds did not crack, and it does not rust any quicker than my buddy's Invidia exhaust. When it does, it's all surface rust. A little metal polish and it looks great again. The sound is also much deeper than the N1, but slightly louder as well and I get compliments on the sound all the time.

$300 might be pushing it, but it's still a decent exhaust for the money. I did not regret this purchase at all.

I like to add that a few weeks ago I went and purchased some normal length hardened hangers and reinstalled the exhaust. No rubbing / touching, everything fits up perfectly. almost 60k miles on this exhaust and counting.

There are somethings I will NEVER purchase on eBay, like turbochargers, computer hard disks, and the like. However, this exhaust is about as good a deal as it gets. Highly recommended.

It looks like a copy of a Tanabe Touring Medallion exhaust. Not too bad I guess.

At less than half the cost, I can deal with a bit of surface rust

Looks great. I am curious as to how much ground clearance the axleback to mid pipe connection flanges have. Anyone have any shots to show some perspective?

Maybe I'm slow but are you talking about the Invidia Q300? I installed one today and I love it. Price, look, and sound was exactly what I wanted. It is really low when I'm at idle but gives me the Subbie sound when I get on it.

That be the one. I wasn't willing to spend $500+ for a CBE.

I have it and its nice.. Nice sound and nice fitment and tone.. Its a steel for that price..

OK. for starters... I have had Both the SRS N1 type and this one I have no cats about 30,000 miles with the N1 and just abot 3000 miles with the RE.

ABSOLUTLY NO FITMENT ISSUES OR QUALITY ISSUES WHAT SO EVER.

the N1 has a nice sound for most normal driving. Very free flowing feel. compaired to the SPT exhaust that came with the car. It does get a little loud at WOT. However I have used this exhust in both racing and hard moutain drives in UT and CA. NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER.

I just got the RE exhaust and for the price this exhaust system is VERY nice. the quality and cunstruction materials are suprisingly good for the price. The its more smooth and deep tone at both wot and normal driving. I have not had a chance to race with it yet.. But we will see.. Im currently getting my car tuned this weekend with a new turbo. Im gonna slap on the N1 style exhaust for tuning and dyno (more free flowing)

NOTE: This is the only Ebay exhaust I would purchase for the WRX. The other ones that cost 75 bucks and 60 bucks for shipping suck. I tryed one. Very restrictive flow. Light weight yes. However the materials are very cheep. They rust FAST and are only good for Stock Down Pipes. NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!..
