Sports Wagon what kind of power is that putting down. Gotten it dyno'd?
BTW if your looking for a sleeper and if your even remotely worried about clientel just get a legacy gt limited edition and you can do some mods to it to make it substantially faster then a 'stock' sti

heh I wish my buddy did a swap on a 2.5RS.. I kept on telling him to do it, but he decided to just completely rebuild his DSM. Personally though I dunno how you can call a car with an FMIC a sleeper.. Most people that are going to be racing something that is obviosly turboed are going to be checking if theres an FMIC on it :P. Least thats just me. I definetly think it would look very streamline with no wing, and no hood scoop. You could possibly hide an FMIC though if you painted the car black and had the FMIC powder coated black.. Well wouldn't hide it, but would help conceal it .
Nice to see someone trying to sleeper an Sti though. Some homo that lives around here completely badged his base 01 WRX as an STi.. All it has is some work to the tranny, mbc, TurboXS BOV, exhaust, STi Scoop, STi Spoiler, and then STi badging. Last edited by Dark-Hawk; 10-19-2004 at 09:39 PM. |

But it does stand out from other imports, so most people in the know are gonna ... know. You really can't sleeper it unless you have an old body style to begin with/ |

There are a couple of pics of my sleeper. Not done yet but it sure doesn't get the attention it used too.

I think the best STi sleeper (an actual bought STi) would be to do change the trunk and to an '02 front conversion.... any thoughts on that?? -Shane |

I was thinking of getting a set of rims that you can't see through as much to hide the brembo's. I want to do the front mount thing and get rid of the hood scoop. Something that gets some people is the seats are out of an 02 WRX wich helps the sleeper look.
Changing the front end would be $$$. You would have to change the hood, fenders, headlights, grill, and bumper cover. I really don't want to give up the HID's for that as I do a ton of driving in the dark. TMS |

Hey mad phd, I like what you have done. I think one of the biggest differences are the SOA foglights. That really tones down the front end of the car comapred to the covers with STI stickers that come stock.

I think any attempt to make a STi or a WRX into a sleeper is going to be futile. Face it these are performance cars. How many people sees an impreza and says, "that's gotta be an RS?" Anyone who is not already familiar, but knows the shape, with a Subaru is going to assume it's a WRX. And if they don't already know the shape, then they don't know what is a STi or a WRX or even a RS. Those people probably don't care about racing with you either. They will simply assume your STi or WRX is a "weirdly" modified Civic. If you are trying to fool a Subaru guru . . . then forget about it. No matter what you do, we are going to know what it is.
Even if you can get people to think that your STi is a WRX . . . so what? A WRX is already a pretty formidable car . . . So really, who are you gonna fool? Chieh -- Camera Hacker - http://www.CameraHacker.com/ |
