First time at the track, horrible times. But not the last time going.
well i hit the track a couple of days ago to see what my times were, sadly this is my first time there so i was so nervous and sweating my ass off. i have never launched my car full out. i would either bog or spin the rpms to redline and not go anywhere. most of it, i was nervous more than anything.and it was about 100 degrees outside down here in Texas, well here my times i am here to seek advice thanks
first run i reved to about 4500 and bogged R/T .088 60' 2.318 330 6.196 1/8 9.272 MPH 82.11 1000 11.910 1/4 14.122 MPH 102.36 RUN TWO i slipped the clutch way to long and smelt like burning clutch so i called it a night. r/t .456 60' 2.058 330 6.035 1/8 9.130 mph 62.07 1000 11.736 1/4 13.948 MPH 102.46 i need to practice more, i think with better launching i should be able to do better? mods are fp18g ebay tmic tbe walbro fp colder plugs perrin ebcs mustang dynotuned at 254whp and 285wtq at MZM.

You need at least pinks for injectors. And yeah that is really low but It's because of the stock injectors.

I'll be out there tomorrow just to see how much the heat has slowed me down. You just need some practice.

I thought 06 injectors flow as much or better than pinks. I've read it here more than once.

stock 06 injectors were flowtested to be ~560cc just like pinks

I think he just needs some practice driving...yeah, the numbers aren't the best, even on a low reading dyno, but for reference, my car made only 6 more whp than his, and 50 less wtq than him on a low reading dyno dynamics dyno, and I still managed to run a 12.7 @ 105.3 in 95+heat and humidity...mine will go low 12s in the winter...and this is with a 16g on a 2.0
practice your launch and shift at redline for your best runs, and I bet you'll see 12s in any kind of weather. I do agree with one thing the guys above said, larger injectors should be on your to do list...I am running helix 660s on mine (ported evo3 16g and AVO tmic) Good luck... Trey |

Yep it will. However on a 18g it is recommended to use at the least 720cc inj

I run a 20g on pe650's and meth and never see duty cycles above 75%. If you use meth with the 18g you will have plenty of room with the stock injectors. |

You are only trapping 102? Did you miss shift? Granny shift? An 18G TR is a 12 sec car @110+ easily. Are you sure you have the right map loaded? Seriously, if you can't get more than 102 out of your car, something must be wrong. Even a friend of mine back in winter of 2002 (who is the worst driver I have ever seen) ran a 15.5@94 on his mildly modified wrx and it was putting down a little more hp than mine. I ran 13.8s@96 that night. My point is, even if you are a horrible driver, your traps are way too low for an 18g 2.5L. The MZM dyno reads very low (your hp and tq numbers look ok for that dyno), so I would venture to guess that something is wrong with your car. You should be trapping alot higher, even with your bad launches.

I have an 05 wrx w/ uppie and catback. My best in that car is 14.3@95 w/ 1.8 60' times. I would think you be low 13's to high 12's w/ that. I launch at around 5200 rpm. It's hard to explain but the best thing you can do is bring your knee straight up towards the wheel when launching. You'll have to find that happy medium between slipping and dumping but it's there. Just bring it up smoothly and quickly and you should launch like a bat. Like I said hard to explain unless I can show you. but practice will help.

that car should be in the low 12's with a 110mph trap itleast with an 18G, you need to get retuned because those numbers are low I dont care if its on a Mustang Dyno or not times represent your power level/driving skill. The driving was horrible but still your trap should be WAY WAY WAY higher. you do not need new injectors, you need a new tune. Your car is not running right. I constantly see 2.0liter boys wtih 18G's hit low low low 12's and hell soemtimes 11's, I see VF 2.0liters run 12.6's all day, and yet I see stock 06 wrx's/stage 2 run low low 13's but turbo upgraded 06's run mid 13's? Somethings not right. If you know anyone local go run a stock STI from a Roll see how many cars you pull on em (If any).

That goes to tell ya it the driver. No offense but dragging has a lot of variables. Launch has to be perfect, shifts have to be perfect and the setup has to be good.

what alot of people fail to understand is that it takess alot variables to get good times, my dyno might be low but a stock sti on that dyno puts 200ish whp and a 20g sti put 280ish on the same mustang dyno. the track wasnt really prepped well, and it was over 100degrees out there, my 102mph trap was pretty decent that day compared to ls1's that could not even get past my 102 or even close to 100mph. not every track/dyno/setup will be the same, theres just to many variables that causes different results. just because you are use to seeing the numbers/higher numbers doesnt mean it will be the same for others reason , you have to consider the elevation/conditions people just dont take that into thought. people right off the bat start to bash and get on the bandwagan, i've seen to many of these threads and same people comment about this and that but they dont seem to think about where there at and etc. i am not hurt by what people have said on this thread but see it as comments and people opinions i just wish people would think about the other surrounding coditions, i know the car pulls hard on the street because its taken down alot of quick cars that i couldnt when i had my vf39 setup. for those who gave me tips i appreciate it and will continue to practice on my launches and will be visiting the track my 2nd time soon. |
