Default Anyone with nitrous or looking to get nitrous?

Okay all these nitrous questions and stupid people responding that dont know what they're talking about, is pissing me off.

I think what we need to do is get everyone with nitrous to reply to this thread, so the ones in the market can get some hard facts to make a decision on.

Everyone with nitrous:
please post your brand?
Whether its dry or wet?
what size shot?
Any fuel mods?
any safety features (i.e...WOT switch, window switch)?
and if you have had any problems?
Which model Subaru you have?
And any other mods?
Any track times?
Anything that you would recommend!

And this is for all those stupid morons who are going to respond " NOS is the best, i had it on my twin-cam saturn".

I think im going to get a ZEX kit also. But i was wondering if anyone had any information on hooking up a 5th injector? I want to get a little crazy with the nitrous so if anyone had any info on the 5th injector let me know.

foolio check this out: http://sdsefi.com/specific.html
if i were you just put on a high flow fuel pump and a FMU or rrfpr (whatever you like to call it)
for details on the above injector system email larry (great guy very informative and VERY helpful) with imprezars.com he has the same injector setup on his turbo RS. If i remember his email is [email protected]
but for a real good setup but a little more mula go with the injectors. but then again your RS engine block can probably only handle a 150 shot, at the very most.
or you might be able to get a open deck ecu and you'd probably be able to control at least one more injector.

Any track times? 14.088

Cool thanks for the info. I'm probably only going to witha 75 shot at the most W/5th injector. I just dont want to lean the A/F out too much.

I dont have nitrous yet, plan on getting it sometime soon though. I have been looking at the Zex dry kit. I've read mixed reviews about it, but my overall all opinion is that it is a decent setup up for the money.

I have a nitrous express wet setup for my car. I don't have it in yet, waiting until summer but I have done some extensive research and I feel that the system I came up with will be pretty safe on a daily driver. I've got most of the parts and its very safe.

50shot Nitrous Express Wet Kit with 10lbs bottle
Fuel Pressure Safety Switch (from Nitrous Express I think)
MSD RPM activated window switch (3000 rpm pill and 5800 rpm pill)
Full throttle swtich
Safety blow down tube
Interior switch - think I'm going to get a factory switch and reletter it. Maybe Intercooler Spray.
EGT guage (don't have it yet)
A/F guage (don't have it yet)

The SDSEFI injector controller can be set to activate the extra injectors at vacuum or boost, I think from like as early as -10 vacuum to as late as +20 boost. Duty cycle increases as RPM rises, and you can set the duty cycle using a a "gain" knob and observing a set of sequntial LED's that light up as the injectors are firing. An EGT gauge is best for tuning the fuel.

The controller is about $300 new, and a pair of injectors are about $175. Don't know if it supports just one injector, but 2 or 4 I know. You likely will not go above 25-35% duty cycle on the extra pair of injectors with only a 75 shot.

Whats the differece between using a 5th/6th injector and a fogger kit that sprays both fuel and nitrous.

I dont see the difference at all, exception of when its on (injectors on all the time, foger only on when the nitrous is)

I will be adding NOS shortly to my '98 RS, I've got a 10lb bottle, bottle warmer, the only thing i need to buy is the jets, i'll prob. get a 50-60shot(what do you guys recomend) I'll prob get a fuel pressure riser to make sure i am getting enough in there.

Mods that will be going with it
Intake that makes use of the hood scoop
Custom header to 2.5" Custom Exhuast, HKS can
HKS AFC (5 autometer gauges)
OBD II set up to a Labtop

Let me know what kind of shot you guys think I should run with these mods.

Im buying the stuff for ONLY a dry kit right now. Im going to install it and get it working fully (maybe a 30 shot or so) then if I feel that its running lean (after I get my A/F meter) I will convert it to a wet kit.

If its not running lean, then I will keep the dry kit and bump up the power level

Just a quick question. What brands of a/f meters are worth while? I see JC Whitney has one http://www.jcwhitney.com/item.jhtml?ITEMID=510&BQ=jcw2 Didnt know if it was worth buying or just a waste. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry cvcsmkr not trying to jump in on your post...

autometer is the brand that most go with, its and electronic LED that works pretty nice, its around 50bux...Summit Racing

I can't remember if its HKS or Blitz, but one of those companies(could be both) make digital ones, which give u precise measurements(not just guesses which you kinda have to do with the autometer) but it comes with a price, about $250

Default my 2 cents

I have a '99 2.5RS with an NX kit. Right now I'm running the 75hp shot. I don't have any real mods done to the car, just a k&n filter and COBB Tuning short shifter. Have only one problem and that is clutch slippage in 3rd gear. I haven't run the 1/4 mile yet but my 1/8 mile time is [email protected] with a 1.8 sixty-foot. I have it on a WOT switch mounted on the throttle body. I would tell anyone looking for "BANG" for your buck, this is truley the way to go. The kit was under $500 but I had the bottle heater so that added another $150 or so.

99wnx:
i am trying to decide on to go with the 75 or 50 shot. I think the 75 might be a little too much. how does your car handle the extra power? Is that the stock clutch?

To tell you the truth I'm not too sure. I bought the car used and never really took the time to tear it apart and see. It does have longer studs than the factory and the plastic under the hood scoop and vents has been removed. To answer the question about which hp to go with, I was told the highest "SAFE" shot was 80hp. I only had the 50 in for 2 or3 days and then went with the 75 and the bottle heater. That is the one thing I highley recomend is the bottle heater. Made it a totally different animal. I raced a Prelude with a turbo kit and smoked him pretty bad.
