Tokico d-spec struts
Hey guys.
I'm searching for struts for my wrx wagon and saw that tokico released these for the wrx sedan and wagon (dsp-10) about 2 months ago. They are entire struts not inserts like the koni's and are 8 way adjustable. The compression and rebound are adjusted at the same time with one knob like the kyb's. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these struts before. These may be a good alternative to kyb's or koni inserts. Franklin

Actually i saw an add in this months scc. I gave tokico a call to ask about wagon specific struts and was suprised they had them. The only information on tokico struts i found here were on the hp's and it seemed like everyone would rather get agx's or koni's.

Just got off the phone will a few Tokico dealers in Pa. They are quoting prices around $130/strut.
Oh and pyro, I dunno what the deal is with the ebay ones, but they are listing the wrong part # for the struts. they list DSP-6, when the ones for the 02-03 WRX is DSP-10 |

hmm.. i guess i got my info mixed up. $130 a strut is pretty darn good for msrp. So does that mean the part numbers for the sedan and wagon are the same? If so does that mean that they dont have different struts for the sedan and wagon?

good question. Koni doesn't have different struts for the sedan and wagon do they?
Plus, for 130/strut, I'd really rather do the Konis for 150/corner. |

no koni's inerts have the same part numbers for sedan or wagon. But the only difference between the two seem to be the lower mounting points of the strut so since koni's are inserts that wouldn't concern them.
Also $130 vs $150 + hassle of hacking up your stock struts? Are koni's that much better than tokico? |

never owned tokico, so its more of past experience and brand loyalty. Koni and Bilstein have been the two I have dealt with for every car I've ever owned. I lead a sheltered life :P
Though it is true, there is a lot of work hacking up the struts, plus that whole thing that koni's have less bump travel |

K just got off the phone with tokico again. Seems like they only have 1 strut for the wrx (dsp-10). I guess that puts me back to square one, looking for a wagon specific strut. I guess my only real option is just to go with the koni inserts.

pyropretz, another option for wagon specific struts are KYB GR2's.

www.alexperformance.com has koni's for $555 shipped. thats only $138 per strut, shipped. i just put a set in my wagon last week. as long as you have a 4.5" angle grinder and a steel cutoff wheel the install is super easy.
