what are your tokico d-spec settings?
how soft/stiff do you guys have these shocks at and with what springs? results? the manual didn't give much pointers to awd vehicles, just fwd and rwd.
also, does anyone know anything about clunking in the rear? I had these installed and the rear passenger side makes noises when going over bumps/potholes, etc.

......this question has NO possible answer....the 'setting' is determined by the particular vehicle, on the particular vehicle....spring rate will be the biggest determining factor....I prefer the rears ~ 3/4 to 1 turn softer than the fronts for my car.
the 'clunk is very likely the top nut not tight enough or something not quite tight....or the rear upper spring perch oriented wrong |

i was deciding between these two too but opted for the tokicos since i didn't have to hack up my stock struts to put the inserts in. the install part for the koni's would've been harder and if you are going to isntall them through a shop, it will cost a lot more.
The adjustments on the tokicos are simple. you just insert the hex key they give you into the strut and turn clockwise or counterclockwise. however you ahve to remove rear seats to do the rears but i think konis are like that too. |

No-No-No......dear readers...as in NOT Mcmaster-Carr has some nice CHEAP(~$3/ea)...L O N G 3mm hex wrenches.....pn 5629A73 http://www.mcmaster.com/ctlg/DisplCt...MMainWidth=812 ...which is what is used to adjust the Tokico's....the Tokico's come with some nice caps to cover the adjusters....drill appropriate sized hole in cap...insert long hex wrench....screw cap on...install seat....wrench sticks up above back seat for easy adjustement. bump for this thread since more people have got these shocks in now. So what are your current settings?
In the manual, it says you run a stiffer rear and a softer front to lessen understeer. however, i noticed that some members have been setting a softer rear than the front. shouldnt we wrx owners go for a stiffer rear? and when you list your settings, note if they are turns from fully stiff or fully soft. thanks! |
