Huh. My 97 OBS didn't have em either.

I guess the Outback Sport doesn't have fender braces, period.

I think the bolts are M10 x 1.25.

^^^ thank you so much you are right.

That solved it, it took about an hour and a half once I was able to go get the bolts from home depot after fighting with the people to let me finish finding the bolts before they closed.

Tomorow morning on my way to work I'll be able to test them out. Then tomorow night I'll be installing the kartboy endlinks. Wayyy better tires, fender braces, and endlinks all in one week should be amazing especially considering I never even had the crappy oem fender brace in there to start with.

Update:
I drove to work today and I gotta say I could feel the difference immediately pulling out of my drive way. The whole front of the car feels so much tighter and together. Turning is much better and just overall the front end feels solid. I really really recommend these to anyone especially to those looking for those bang for the buck mods.

I had these braces on for a couple years. And they survived this 45-50mph into a concrete wall.

Will be installing into my STI here shortly

Installed a set of these last night. Easily one of the best mods for the price. Like other people have said, its hard to explain what these do...but the car just feels better.

I have had mine installed for about two weeks now and here is my brief review:

First off, on the installation, I opted to just take the whole fender off. I had tried futzing with the top right and bottom right bolts, and they weren't budging and I also was not about to risk rounding the bolt heads. With the removal of what, 7 bolts, my job became a TON easier and you don't even have to remove the fender liner.

I couldn't believe how flimsy the stock pieces were even after countless reviews by others on their super thin and pliable characteristics. They were correct, very cheap feeling brace from the factory. These new ones are super beefy and you could easily see they were destined to make some sort of improvement.

Now onto the driving impressions! Prior to the install, I had a whole assortment of suspension goodies already intalled (Swift wagon springs, f/r whiteline sways, botox bolts, and a good amount of bushing replacements from TiC). While these all made a very nice and immediate imrpovement of handling and ride quality, I could always tell something was lacking. Bumps were very "bumpy", seemingly harsh, and turns could still be tightened in some more. The braces fixed that a good 90%. Bumps are much softer, almost as if I had new struts installed (which I still need to do since I am running 143,xxx miles on the stockers), and I can take turns with more confidence on how the car is going to react. I feel overall that the car is much more connected to the road and the common harshness levels I had been seeing are almost gone.

Very impressed with my purchase of these braces and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again if I had to! A+ TiC on a fantastic product!

I have a 96 impreza wagon and will be doing these when I have some extra cash! I know a vendor over on RS25.com sells them for a good deal, but getting these with a front strut tower bar that is tied into the firewall would be a great 1-2 punch

Is it recommended to buy the rear sways along with it too? I'm already sold on buying the fender brace but I'm kind of on a budget as in two weeks I'll have new wheels, springs, OEM struts, and tires installed for the summer. And probably Group N tophats for both front and rear.

Will it be ok to just get the front fender braces for now and when I have the money, buy the rear swaybars? Or is it even really necessary at all?

Not necessary but a worthwhile mod. I would install them separately just so you know the difference between them in improvements.

Anyone try these on a 07 sti? I know the fender braces on the 07 are beefed up a bit, so are these a worth while part for this model year?

My buddy was going to take the ones from his '05 WRX and put them on his '07 STi..

Let me check with him and see if he did it yet.

I did attempt to install them in the STI Jeff but to my surprise n further learning. Subaru beefed up the fender braces in 07. They replaced the stamp metal we pulled out of my old 04 WRX n your 06, putting in a steel bar.

So on at least 07's they're not necessary but still can be installed. I sold mine to a coworker for his 05 STI. Hope this helped.

This is not true at all. I have an 07 wrx and I replaced my flimsy braces with the tic ones. I could bend the stock ones by hand

My statement was true, Was referring to an 07 STI due to the previous question. So far 02-07 to my knowledge WRX's have stamped cheap metal. 04-06 STI's the same n 07 STI a solid bar.

Yea, I don't think it would be a "worth while" upgrade on the 07 sti.

Oh well...
