Default Anyone add a 1/4" plate to gas pedal

I want to bring the gas pedal up a bit, at least more inlin with the dead pedal. I used a small bit of wood and found 1/4"-1/2" perfect for heal n' toe'n, but am not willing to drive it this way. My tilton pedals on my other car are all at the same height and I'd like my subie the same.

Looking at the pedal, do you think it best to bend it, or add a pedal cover.

Thanks

either buy some nice pedal covers or get some 1/4" aluminum bend it to fit the shape of your pedal drill a bunch of holes in it or add some of that sandpapertape stuff for traction. then all you have to do it drill a few smaller holes and countersink them so you can bolt it on and they will be flush.

Since you posted this in motorsports, I'm going to assume that you compete someplace.

If you do, check the rules to see if it is allowed. For example: SCCA Solo-II does not allow the modification of gas pedals in Stock (but they do in ST, SP and above). Just something to keep in mind.

you do know the clutch & brake pedals are height-adjustable, right?

I thought the gas was supposed to be lower because you typically heel-toe when the brake pedal is down hard. If they are aligned at rest, surely the gas will be too high under heavy braking.

yeah, with my 2.5RS (until I installed SS brake lines) I had to actually raise my brake pedal up.

the STi just had to have the pedal slack adjusted out; heel & toe is right on.

I put new 4-pots and lines on and the pedal is a little high, that and a little slack in the throttle line.

I didn't know the WRX's clutch and throttle pedals are adjustable? other than the push rod that enters the master cyl and the cable at the stop and TB, but that doesn't affect height like adjustable pedals do..

I'll check it out. I may be wrong.

I'm not too worried about the SCCA and the rules, for with my job I'll never have enough time to compete at more than the local level, and no longer have the patients to drive more than 30 minutes for 3 minutes of seat time, and 3 hours of waiting around.. I much prefer the NASA, Porsche and Vette events = less anal, more fun, organized , faster speeds, less work.

Was just using it as an example. Didn't know what your inteded use was for since you didn't mention.

As an aside... there are no NASA events within 30 min of Amherst if you're new to the area.... closest is NY/NJ at about 3+ hrs. There are other non-scca clubs that run at Ft Devens in Ayer of which offer more seat time... but would be about 1.5 hrs away (1/2 the distance to the closest NASA event). There's also CART in Bristol CT which has a pretty bumpy lot that has been known to eat suspensions. Best surface in New England is Devens (Ayer) tho.

Our CART lot doesnt eat suspensions. It eats entire small cars!
I really enjoy the CART surface, I cant imagine running on something like pool table.

You know that's adjustable, too - right?

(that's one of the first things I fix on people's cars when they come over for install days)

Taking out theTB cable slack helped more than expected. I shouldn't attempt H&T with combat boots on anyway. I just had a scare the other day when I left foot and the edge of my boot caught the brake pedal..

Funny stuff. I used to be stationed at Fort Devons in the early 90's. It's nice, but a haul.

I hope to move back to D.C. in the summer and get my D Mod car going for autocross. DC seems to be the hottest region for motorsports, for many times I remember doing 2 events in same day (leaving the r compounds on). I ran almost every weekend with one club or another.

Yeah, it's nice when you have areas that let people auto-x... with New England... there's not many places that have the room, or would let the clubs run.
