03 Cobb stage 2 vs 05 STi
did 3 pulls against a 05 STi with helix turbo back (on a private road). I have a 03 wrx cobb stage 2 running 93 octanes. dyno run results can be found here: dyno run
3 runs from 30 mph to 110, dead even on the first 2 runs, fell back by 1/2 car length on the 3rd run. I was by myself and the 05 STi had a passenger. Reason i picked 30 mph is because i'm sitting right around 4 grand or so on 2nd, so boost was handy.

Not bad. My little brother has an '03 Cobb Stage 2 with a 3" turbo back. He ran against a stock STi and stayed even all 3 times.

passengers make a bigger difference than you may think. If he had no passenger he probably would have been pulling around 3 cars on ya.

^ right, for every 100 lbs you add to the weight of the car, add about .1 seconds to your times

3 car lengths from just ONE passenger!? I highly doubt that!! A general rule of thumb I had always heard was every 18lb = 1hp. So say the guy weighed 350lb(one huge mofo!!) that would equate to around 20hp more at the MAX. Now since this is raw dead weight we are talking about, and not rotational mass..the effect of this "20hp" is not quite so significant when running from a 30mph roll... The added 350lb passenger doesn't really make that much of a difference!

^^ wanna bet? I have seen numerous videos on 350z forum of a guy who runs 13.1@107 with bolt ons. stock Zs run 13.6-13.8 with an excellent driver. When he has a passenger and stock Z doesn't he pulls barely a car. With no passengers he pulls 3 cars, with passenger in stock Z he pulls 5-6 cars.

Let's say his car runs 13.3 seconds in the 1/4mile. 10% faster would mean that his car now runs 11.97 seconds. Wow I'm going to gut 350lb from my car so I can run 11s guys!! Lets get the facts straight now: 350lb = about 20hp gain from losing dead weight Car now runs 11.97seconds over 13.3 with just a 20hp gain Since when do cars remove over a second off their 1/4mile time with just 20 more horsepower? So you can retract your statement and I'm sorry but YOU'RE WRONG. It is more likely on the line of being about 1-2% faster! Last edited by akira02rex; 04-25-2005 at 01:30 AM. |

I agree, the passenger was big, i figured at least 300 pounds since he is or seemed at the time to be around 5'8 or so. (by the way both guys were nice people). i don't want to start any argument here, just to report what i have found. The car had a 3" turbo-back, which i figure could make up for the passenger weight. So i figure i should be pretty even with a stock STi from a roll. 10% faster, that's a good one

I've run my modded 04 STI vs my friend's modded 04 STI. Similar mods except I'm running an MBC set at 18psi and he's running an Accessport Stage 2. He pulls on me on the highway. Recently, we both dyno'd at the same place. Mine put down 247whp/296twq, uncorrected. His put down 270whp/332wtq, uncorrected as well.
I'm in the process of ditching my MBC and FCD for an AP. |

get a utec and get ur car tuned by someone who knows what theyre doing, and you will see some results, once your where u wanna be u dont have to worry about tweekin it or whatever, thats what the remote map switch is for . so when they dyno tune your car they download your runs on pump gas , race gas, nitrous etc.. so all u do is select which map by a flick of a switch. and uncorrected is a higher hp rating sae wouldve read alot lower.

350lbs?!?!? cripes! So the STi roughly weighed 3730lbs against a 3180lb WRX (assuming both drivers were around 180).
I bet you could easily FEEL a difference when adding 350lbs to a car. |

I had a COBB Stg 2 2004 WRX. I bought a 2005 Sti and was amazed at the similar performance of my WRX. I had to fix that fast, hehe. So the STi is COBB Stg 2 now.
