Default 2013 Impreza First Oil Change, which Mobil 1 oil you use?

Which one do you guys use?

Going to bring the oil to the dealership and let them change it for me.

Do you guys buy your own filter and give it to them too?

Which one should I use? 3 different kind of Mobil 1 Available in Autozone.

I have always used Mobil-1 but the consensus on here seems to lean towards Pennzoil Platinum or Shell Rotella. I picked up two 5 quart containers of the Pennzoil at Walmart, ~$22 each, and will be changing it as well as adding a fumoto valve that just came in on wed. I'm just trying to decide on a filter, all the dealer had were the blue honeywell filters. Remember this takes 5 quarts and most of the autozone and such stores sell 4 quart jugs not 5 quart.

Mobil/Advanced fuel economy engine oil SAE 0W-20 1 qt.

I'm also gonna give Eneos a try. I haven't seen anything bad about it on here yet. Mobil 1 is cheap and readily available though...

I bought 6 of the black rokis from ebay, and that should last me quite a while.

If you're bringing the supplies, I'd find a service station you or someone you know trusts already, instead of the dealership. It's just an oil change, you need someone to care about it, they don't necessarily need to have intimate Subaru knowledge.

Have you guys heard of Motul or Amsoil? Are they better than Mobil 1 for the 2013 Impreza's?

Just chang it yourself! Its as easy as an oil change can get.
I wouldn't go M1, I'd get amsoil oe or Castrol Edge. Wallywprld finally has lots of 0w oil!

In my opinion, the Amsoil is the best you can get.

Will changing it myself void the car's warranty? It's a brand new card....so I don't want to mess with it too much.

I took mine in to the dealer for the first one so they would do the initial service and fix any problems but I'm not going to pay $105 bucks for anybodies oil change and tire rotation after that first time. Just save your receipts for proof of change.

No. It will not void anything. Keep your receipts if you are worried.

$105 sounds about right for a routine service for a stealership. Do it yourself or hand in your man card, your choice. lol

My friend just did his oil change in Brooklyn's Subaru for $25 and he brings his own oil in.

17mm wrench for the oil drain bolt, filter wrench, and a drain pan. Most auto stores recycle oils for free.

Probably want ramps as well. I never needed a filter wrench but good to have.

I wonder if I'll get in trouble with changing my oil and lifting my car up in my building's garage.

Good call lol forgot the ramps. Menards has them pretty cheap around here. Also I didn't first change myself and dealer did second one. No issues with me doing it. I have receipts in my file cabinet and also log onto "my subaru" and keep all my records there.

My mechanic fills my car with Eneos. I'm pretty satisfied with it - it allows the boxer to rumble at higher revs, but is also very quiet at idle. It's so quiet that I've had people ask me, "Is your engine running?" while it's idling.

Never heard of Eneos before. Who makes it and where do you buy it?

I've just switched from Amsoil OE to Pennzoil Platinum. I didn't switch because I disliked the Amsoil. I switched because the Pennzoil is cheaper and easier to find (at Walmart), and is often on sale. And also because Pennzoil is rated very highly by people who know oil.

I got my oil change in dealership. $55 in NJ. I think its a good deal consider it costs around $40 for the oil and filter. Do my own tires rotation myself.

So check your dealership site for coupon. sometime they offer reasonable deal.

That's going to be my plan as well. I have one more oil change supply of Amsoil OE but will then be moving to Pennzoil Platinum instead.

Cheap! I paid close to $50 for a 4.4 litre jug at crappy tire. So i had to buy an extra litre for $12.

Well, I've been buying 5 qts of Pennzoil Platinum on sale at Walmart for $20, plus another $7 for the oil filter. I do my oil changes and tire rotations myself, so no additional labor charges. I also buy my air filters (engine and cabin air) at Walmart (or on Amazon) for much less than dealership charges, and install those myself too.

In addition, I've learned to do my own brake rotor/pad/fluid changes, but that's a different story that belongs in a different thread.
