Texas is great so far. Working on some killer stuff out here and have a lot of stuff coming up. It's a great change both in work place and living. Was a much needed and refreshing change from California.
If you guys decide to go with clamshell clamps I have all the cad files for the weld ferrules and have some extra clamps here as well I think. If you know where to look they are pretty damn cheap compared to the $300 usual cost.

question for people that have done this or know about rads. Are you able to use a normal type rad and just put it into a V mount configuration? I can't see any pics with fill points/rad caps on the rads, would this cause issues?
thanks |

I told myself that I wouldn't get back into the game but I might start a v-mount build again on my new chassis. It'll go onto my 07 STi if I decide to go for it. It'll be far different than my last approach. It was... let's call it a learning experience. haha

If you're intersted in doing it I recommend a Mishimoto (or other brand) MR2 radiator. The inlet/outlet are both @ a 45 degree angle up so tilting it 45 degrees means now it's straight out the back. We were going to hose it directly in/out of the block on each side but the fittings were so huge EVERYTHING needed modification lol This is -20AN: |

The system can be tricky bleed all the air out with out fill caps or some kind psi relief valve to help bleed the system. I had to use a combo of a coolant system psi and the fill funnel with several rotations of both to bleed the coolant system.
Easiest way i think to do it, is make a radiator from scratch. Its about the same cost.or less than buying a radiator and then having to modify it. .build it how you want it from the start |

I realize wires are a mess but here ya go... she's fabbed up 98%. A few little supports here and there but nothing major still needed.
More pics here... newest stuff is on the bottom. |

Workin on it! Wiring will be done Tues/Wed.
It's a response build... intercooler core can handle 942CFM which is plenty Auto-x, ripping around, and track days. |

smitty5788, what intercooler and radiator are those and what are the dimensions? I think I'm gonna try something similar on my v-mount build.

The kit was a joint effort between us and Nameless performance. Give them a call and ask for Jason, tell him Pat said to call about the v-mount setup. They have made two other kits I believe, all a little different. Ours was the first one built. It has room for a precision 5858 that is mounted below the radiator. One of the others was on a matte green hatch that was for sale on here a while back.
The radiator is double pass, I think the later kits used CNC machined end tanks and were actually triple pass. I will grab the dimensions when I get back to the shop in the morning. |
