well when i bought the car the sticker on the window said the oil didnt need to be changed for another 5000mi so i assumed it was every 5k. i thought id play it safe and do it every 4500.. guess not :/

Guessing I would be denied because of these power mods? Confused on how warranty work, works. Your Story: Clutch has started to slip pretty much out of the blue.. There should not even be grounds for a denial being the car is beyond the basic wear item warranty. The clutch is out of coverage anyways. 3/36k is the time frame and you have exceeded that.

Goodwill assistance is where they offer to pay for the repair for you, or pay a certain portion. You can ask to see if Subaru will be kind enough to either

(was prepared for it kind of). Your Story: First gear started rattling, took her in and was told it was chipped and wanted 2000.00 to fix. Best part is the car was sold to me with every single modification on it, including catless turboback. along with selling me a catless vehicle they still had the nerve to sell me an added security policy telling me subaru doesnt care about mods. (wow was i an idiot) Long story short, called B.A.R. and DMV about catless DP and other parts, got many of the stock parts from dealer, before i could put them on 1st goes out. added security warranty denied, Called SOA and has Now been escaladed and in investigation. hope something actually goes right this time... |

if your case has been escalated, how long should you expect to wait for SOA to get back to you. . . its been about 3 business days now since i last heard from them...
any ideas? |

SOA was supposed to call me last monday about my car... never did finally saturday i called the dealer and they said they were sorry but SOA was supposed to be in contact with me all week and they couldnt give too many details just that SOA told them to tear the top end down and take pics then the bottom end and take pics said SOA would call me the following monday. Now its tuesday and no word from SOA still and my car has been to 2 different dealerships bc the first dealer is a joke and i have herd nothing good about them, and now ive been with out my car for about 3-4 weeks.

Call soa again, you might have been assigned to an agent already, took them a few days to contact me.
I also have a question for others.. Subaru picked up the tab on my situation as a goodwill. But during the process they somehow broke the blow off valve and said it was cracked before and now want me to pay for it. (The dealer) Shouldn't they have to fix it since they broke it and failed to let me know it was "cracked" before the continued work with it? |

Time Out Of Use: a week now and counting Problem And Likely Cause: broken ringland on Cyl. 4 and the dealer when calling SAS forgot to mention they left the Vac. hose from the fuel pressure regulator off which to them, this is no problem. I found the hose loose after getting home after a 30 minute spirited drive and put it in place. That cylinder and the scored camshaft also found were all checked before and were all ok as per the service manager. Modifications: suspension, brakes and a cat-back Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): YES via SAS Reason Given For Denial: Aparent signs of overboost (which are also caused under stock boost with no compensating done by FPR) Your Story: See above! I went to dealer for service and was under the powertrain warranty and work was done on heads trying to locate a source of oil consumption. In that case, the cylinder #4 had only a 10% leakdown and pistons in good condition as they were pulled to clean as per the service manager. Car was returned with a plethora of mistakes like the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator unplugged, Main engine ground wasn't attached to engine as the starter bolt that holds it in place was missing, flywheel window on top of bell housing had missing cover, Cam Cover gasket was out of place causing an air leak sound, Power Steering reservoir was empty, intercooler to throttle body hose had a loose clamp and hose slightly out of place. bracket that holds the up-pipe to right head was missing. They filled the power steering and cam cover gasket when I picked up the car. I found the hose loose and the rest of the things after getting home after a 30+ minute spirited drive and put it in place. After we were all set and done with numerous oil tests, the new leakdown showed that same cylinder had a 85% leakdown and a teardown had to be authorized and a bad ringland and a scored camshaft were found. Now, the dealer won't even bring up that RO and when we do, I usually get a "If that were the case, it wouldn't have lasted that long", or the kicker, that because the manual is poorly worded and no definition of a turbo FPR is given, SOA rep says that it works like that of one of a naturally aspirated car which makes the car rich all the time when in a turbo, it's only true for idle anf light load but when the manifold pressure becomes positive, the FPR compensates every pound of boost with one PSI of fuel, thus if SAS is only given the findings and not mentioning the vac line on the FPR was left off, they come to the conclusion that the vehicle was boosted. Stock boost with no compensating fuel equals the same as a car that has been boosted. The dealer is hiding behind what SOA tells them about the regulator and not manning up to the mistakes done and I belive they gave them "just enough" info so they weren't found at fault. If this ever happens, Pictures, more pictures and make phone calls, call dealership, call BAR. it has to be documented in some way. ive been screwed more ways than one from dealers. not anymore.
If all of those were really left in that kind of condition when given back to you, you have to in some way show some kind of proof. Doesnt matter what brand of car you have they will try anything to void your warranty especially if you start to bring up their opportunity cost of providing the warranty to you. I had a friend once who had his warranty denied once because the rubber on his gas pedal was worn from ""Excessive use"". When you are denied for what is not your fault you have to get other agencies involved. Thats why they are there. or find a lawyer if the cost is worth it. any mentions to mods on the car at all dont help either. and if you were overboostin take the hit, it ruins it for everyone else. |

I didn't overboost, I drove home from the dealer with the loose fuel regulator hose and capped it when I found it at home. I called them after I found something wrong which happened to be alot of calls.

You have photo documentation of their mistake. Don't let this go, call SOA, get a case number and present your evidence. Just be prepared to support your argument with facts, like I know you will. You can prove thru pictures that the reason it "overboosted" was due to their negligence. Don't let them try to bs you.

Look above for pics and link to thread. As for proof, a new wrx ride with the hose off and the dealer owner is being arranged so I can take off the hose and demonstrate the consequences of this as apparently this has never happened to SOA or never gotten that far up. Blows my mind really!

Hello I am new to posting on NASIOC so please help me out if I mess this up
Name: Gene Thompson Make: 2011 Subaru WRX Mileage: 1310 Time Out Of Use: 2 weeks Problem And Likely Cause: Transmission Modifications: none Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): yes-pending (denied im thinking) Reason Given For Denial: abuse/neglect most likely Your Story: Driving down the orad and heard a knocking noise under the hood. pulled over to the side of the road put the car in neutral applied e-brake and popped the hood. looked and didnt notice anything all gauges read normal. went to go put the car back in gear wouldnt go. tried forcing the car into gear got it into second. went to take off and heard what sounded like metal just getting flung around inside. put it into neutral, no gears worked except reverse. got it towed to subaru dealrship. said that they couldnt get it out of reverse. service manager calld me and said that someone i was with had called him and told him i tried to launch the car 6 consecutive times and that i obviously abused the vehicle. said i would need to pay for a new transmission and new clutch. I called SOA and the gentlemen in charge of my claim said that the dealer never contacted them back about the diagnostic. come to find out they didnt even take apart my transmission. they called me back the next day and said that if it was found to be of neglect id have to pay for the labor to take apart the transmission and i not SOA would pay for it. I did not drive the car hard at all in the first 1000 miles. I got onto it a couple times after that, never grinded gears or threw it into a gear without mathcing RPMs. this is my third subaru in under a year (yea I know, I cant make up my mind lol). I have refereed multiple people to this dealership most of which has purchased a vehicle and I am completely shocked that with only 1300 miles on the vehicle the tranny would go. The dealership has a lifetime powertrain warranty and i purchased the added security warranty from subaru for 7yrs/70000 miles which covers wear and tear items. I dont understand with all this coverage on how they are giving me such a hard time with my problem. Please give your feed back and a little guidance. thanks |

I told them to go ahead and take apart and look at my tranny. the service manager called me back and said it looked like someone threw a grenade in there. They gave me a loaner and its due in tomorrow. Im pretty sure theyre going to take my loaner. I already contacted SOA and they gave me a case number. Im waiting to hear back from the man at SOA before I do anything. Im not paying for this at all. I leave for Afghanistan in a little over a month and i need it to be handeled with some urgency and it seems liek the dealership is just taking there time.

I am not a lawyer, but my guess would be: If the original work was warranty work, and SOA's designated warranty repair agent caused the damage doing the warranty work, then SOA is responsible.
