Default turbo thatll hit the 450WHP mark

just recently finished with my built block..all i have on it is a 20g. i have all the supporting mods to go as big as a 35r but i dont want to do rotated. i was thinking about going with the FP RED, what other good turbos are out there that can give me a solid 450WHP on just 93oct.

any info will be great thanks

Wow,... Is this for real? Built block but failed to find THIS .
This has been beaten to death really. Should be in the Newb's forum.

I will answer anyway. Hope you have a pocketful of cash
That should do it,...., since you mentioned your block will support a 35R

Stock location 35R? Nope, not on pump gas, not even on a Dynojet. Rotated at the least...might even want bigger than a 35R for a true 450whp on pump.

LMFAO

How about we say give us that list of what you mean by "built" My block can support 600WHP but then again I'm a hard driver so 380WHP on 93 and 480WHP on Q16 is more than I need to break things like my axle or neck.

Ya some people are a bit rude but oh well man. It happens to us all, I have a AVO 500S turbo that well make 450whp on pump but i want my engine to last more that 25k so i have it on a 17 psi setting.(Turbo is rated at 30 psi) 370whp. Assuming you have all the supporting mods for 450whp the AVO 500 or 550 Should do it. I strongly reccomend meth though man. For longevity sake.

Dont waste your time, go rotated. Itll pay off when you start to run race gas.

That will get your far.

Non-rotated really won't get you a true 450 to the wheels. It's one thing to not like the answers you're getting...it's another to call it flaming.

Great you have money. Apparently it does not make you smart enough to search. Lots of threads about what turbos make what power. But,....
Numbers are useless.
450 mustang or 450 DJ? Big difference.
What are your plans with the car>? DD, track, drag?....

Don't mean to hate, I bet your wallet hurts after dropping 10G on that motor.
Seriously though, tune for the 20G now to get it going and save to go rotated later

A red with Meth will MOVE, but if you have a built motor i dont understand why you dont wanna go big...a 35r seems to be the standard for big power on an STI. If you wanna stay with stock location for some weird reason...Red with Meth will be plenty, but theres just so much more potential..

I'd go with a Red, ATP 35r, or Blouch Dom4. If you want the cheapest, it would be FP Red, it is $1400 new and just as good as the rest I'd say. The Blouch is the bling'iest of all.

If you want something around that level on pump you will need one of two things:

1. A true 35r

2. A 35r crammed into a 20g exhaust housing with a fun, enticing name

More than likely neither will get you 450+awhp unless it's on an improperly calibrated dyno.

as others have already stated you wont se 450whp on any stock location turbo on pump gas.....maybe with cams and headwork with a gt35/red on a dynojet..but not likley.

gonna be tough depending on dyno. I like the red alot, but I think you would come up short on most dynos unless you added some meth inj to the 93 pump.

If you purely just want a number then yes, it's possible depending on the dyno you go to.

I mean, really a 20g just dyno'd 400+whp on this forum in FL this week. Anything is possible on any dyno.

But unless you're running close to 25-26psi on pump you won't get close even with a built block.

The only factor that will help you is either head work, cams or water/alcohol injection.

I have used the red before and it's a great turbo.

I personally did 435whp with alcohol injection at 25psi on a dyno dynamics.
Running a high flow cat and 2.5 inch axleback muffler with 3 inch dp and midpipe.

yeah and that 400whp 20g was on a dynojet......it woulda made 320whp on a DD....thats why everyone is saying a "true" 450whp is not gonna happen on pump gas.

since the op wants to stay stock location and make max power his options are limited.

ATP35 int gate
ATP35 ext gate
FP Red
Element GT65
Frank35
Deadbolt SZ65

I believe all these turbos are garrett gt35 wheels stuffed in a 3" inlet compressor housing with an 8cm turbine....pretty much small compressor/turbine housing variations on the same turbo.

The ATP is probably the nicest unit and the ext gate turbine housing option should allow it to make smoother and more boost more efficiently than any of its internally gated counterparts. However the ATP is ball bearing and thus repairing is more expensive. Its also $2000 and doesnt come with the ext gate.

I believe all the other units are journal bearing.

the deadbolt sz65 is probably the best option since they have "free rebuilds for life".....although the red is $800 cheaper so it could be repaired 2-3 times before the hitting the sz65 cost.

based on all that info the red would be my choice. you wont get 450whp on a dyno dynamics but you'll get close if you add meth and you could definately do it on c16.
