TDagen damn son you know your stuff! My STI honestly runs "like stock" it's great.my buddy is using speed density, using map and iat sensors instead of maf.
I actually want to go to the 30r, it's much more streetable. I'm not really a drag kinda guy. Soo if some wants to trade straight over a 30r for my 6162 I will do it. It's on a t3 flange btw. |

AWD Ninja-I am hopelessly addicted to subaru......for real Yeah these damn injectors are solid gold mine runs better than stock..( it used to kill for no reason pulling up to stop lights every so often stock, Now I never get that with these bosch's) When does the 6162 spool up? Thats a pretty sick turbo..
Prevent- You should contact tony at t1 and see if he has a sidefeed deal going... Last I remember they were trying to make these sidefeed compatible... Or you could buy some grimmspeed topfeed tgv deletes and a set of topfeed fuel rails and have topfeed... |

I watch this thread with an envious eye. Closest E85 is 32 miles from home. Only a block from work but still not available enough region wide to allow me to make the switch. |

Got my fuel filter from Jayracing. I got the filter with the barb connections. Looks like a quality item. I'm putting it in tomorrow.

I spent the morning talking with some "old school" racers at a local shop. They were of the opinion that all of the issues I had concern about are indeed real.
Increased Friction via decreased lubrication @: Valve train, piston ring to cylinder, etc. Also, the drying and cracking of fuel system O-rings and seals. Now, I know that everyone says there is no issue, but these guys race alcohol fueled cars day after day, and tear down their 40K motors regularly. I have the distinct impression that they now a bit about the subject. We also discussed the fuel filter issue at some length, and while I will be replacing it, I may be using an additive until I formulate the best way to ensure that I do not have massive fuel leak/contamination issues for long term. Thoughts or Facts on this from other folks would be appreciated. If you have been running E-85 for "long-term" and you haven't looked inside of the system to inspect it, I don't think that qualifies as "experienced", I would consider that somewhat lucky. I have spent a good deal of cash on my vehicle, just like most of you and I don't want to have some overlooked issue take me out. Thanks in advance, Travis |

don't the old school racers run methyl alcohol, which is much more corrosive. The chemical labels and information on e85 state that it becomes more corrosive with increased water content. If e85 was corrosive to rings and things, would chrysler warranty their vehicles for life...or chevy for 100,000 miles? A gas station with a slow turn around for e85 tanks may have a higher water content in the fuel, and unlike gas, e85 will absorb this water. Once e85 absorbs the water, it will actually begin to eat away at softer metals. If you go onto e85fuel.com, it gives you a link to all the chemical information and hazards.

^LOL I was at MAPerformance the other day and I was chatting they Have something like 16 employees who run E85 in there cars 100% of the time...Methanol is Highly corrosive... E85 isn't so bad...This is my second year on E and I have had my fuel rails lines off... I have switched injectors ( clean as a whistle )... I have not had any problems with this stuff...Don't skimp use OE fuel filters if just swaping filters out...

I run E-85 Daily so don't take this as anti-E85 speak. I also realize that the filter cut open a few pages back, that is disintegrated, is from an '02. However I will be changing out to a racing filter anyhow. I will be pulling apart my fuel system in 5,000 miles and testing the rubber. You may continue doing what you were doing before I derailed the whole deal with questions. |

it is definitely nice to discuss this stuff with people, as i am in the process of getting parts together for an e85 tune right now. I do not have e85 in my area; the closest station is about 2 hours from me. I am going to be doing the bulk fueling in 55gallon drums. So, for me to do this is a very big decision, and I need to make sure I look at every aspect of it first. So, these types of discussions help work through all this.

The easy solution for the o-rings is to replace them with Viton. When designing a full fuel system for E85, you replace everything with E85 safe materials. Personally, I would replace the stock filter with an E85 tolerant filter even if I was leaving everything else stock.

I will be joining this army soon
I will try to rebreak the record with e85 fuel. I really have no idea about e85 beside basic mods bigger injectors and fuel pump I don't really have much time to read this thread due to lack of online access I was wondering if you guys can suggest me if things i should add or change on my set up and if someone could summerize what new findings people find with use of e85 for power or reliability thanks guys |

Here is a video I shot tonight with my iphown, we (buddy and I) need to get the timing better for my flat foot (no lift shifting). There is a tiny delay, of course it could be the stock ECU that I have hahaha. I know that AEM's fixes the shift delay on subarus, and makes it super clean and quick. anyway here ya go !
