Default Of the Subaru line up, which car is faster than the WRX?

Is there any other car/wagon that is turbo(or not) that is faster in terms of 0-60mph than the 2002+ WRX Impreza (227hp)?

1) STi 300hp
2)??
3)??

Thank you

Yes both the Forester XT and new Legacy...WITH a manual transmission would be faster in a straight line. Stock for stock they both will handle like boats compared to a stock WRX though. Some simple mods and the WRX is untouchable in overall performance compared to those two cars even with similiar mods on them. One's a pseudo SUV/ mini Outback (built on the Impreza platform) with a big HP motor and the other is Subaru's version of an Accord/Camry w/ all wheel drive and a big HP motor. The WRX is just a better starting platform for a performance car.

Your saying a WRX with EM & TBE will outperform a LGT with the same mods.

The lgt is faster than a wrx in a straight line? I test drove one in 5mt and it didn't feel as fast as my wrx,. fast, but not that fast.

Legacy GT is NOT quicker than a WRX.It has more hp and torque, yes, but it is heavier.

Mags rate LGT around 5.8-6.5 secs 0-60......WRX does it in 5.4-6.1.All things being equal, with even launches, the WRX is quicker.

Oh,and the Forester XT is in the same boat.Car and Driver got that ridiculous 5.3 0-60 time out of one,and everyone thinks they are all that quick. You could probably do that in a WRX or LGT given a perfect launch and a particularly powerful car,but just look at the specs. The three cars,in the real world, are fairly close and it really depends on launch. The bigger 2.5 cars have the roll-on advantage, though.

The STi is clearly in a different league.

Hell, throw a WRX engine in a GC, and you're gonna beat any WRX. I won't even get into JDM's in that body style. Why, you ask? The GC weighs 400lbs less than the GD body style (02-03), and 500lbs less than the GF(04-05). I really hope I'm using the right chassis code. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

GF is the old wagon code(GC era). I doubt they brought it back for the 04-05 models, but anything is possible.

I think you're right garface, but I don't remember the chassis style for the 04-05, sorry. Anyone else know? (sorry about getting off topic) GE maybe?

I bought an FXT because I couldn't handle the "boy racer" look and ride of the STI; and the WRX was just too weak. THe 2006 2.5 WRX will be a considerable improvement.

FXT is faster than the wrx in a straight line,...no matter auto or 5MT. Stock vs. stock. Trust me, I own them both.

Me too . Forester just walks away from the wrx. I'm catless now so it's starting to get a lil closer and all. Driver's were basically equal.

what do you guys expect , stock wrx comes with 3 cats of course every stock subaru turbo car availble is faster. but the stock wrx handles much much better then the other stock turbo suby cars. just remove two cats reflash the ecu and watch out know the other subys are in trouble. if i want torq i can very easly drop in a brand new 2.5 short block 1700 0r 1800 bucks. every one has their own preference. I rather drop in a jdm version 7 block and version 8 cylinder heads much better for what im looking for.

Have you actually lined them up and raced? If not,I'm just wondering if the torque of the 2.5 feels faster.I don't doubt an XT could beat a WRX,but I think it could go either way.

FYI both the legacy turbo models and the forester turbo also come with 3 cats (same setup as the WRX), the STi is the only one that doesn't have a pre-turbo cat.

The 2.5L with the small turbo is very deceptive. It doesn't feel fast since the turbo spools almost instantly, but it is. Plus the FXT has better gearing. My friend was running a 13.9 bone stock in his FXT and he's not even a great driver.

I have. The torque of the 2.5 with variable valve timing and 4.44 gears makes for the shortest race you ever saw. It's also way easier to get a good launch. Handling-wise, with STI struts, decent sway bar and tires, an FXT will keep up with anyone. There isn't much weight difference and an FXT is only a little taller with STI struts.

Evo put the Forester STi with 300hp 2.5 (same as our STi) at 4.8 sec,and the 280hp 2.0 WRX STi at 5.2,so theirs is quicker, too, apparantly.

Can you swap the 4.44 gears into the WRX?
