Default OT: Please help me chose a new notebook computer...

I've seen these threads here before so I figured it might be a good idea. As an engineering student I used to be very much into computers and knowing all the new advancements and what to get, but its been 4 years since I last bought one and I could use some help figuring out what to get.
My current notebook is a Toshiba Satellite 2805-S503. Its close to 4 years old. The 20GB hard drive is always full, the CD/DVD player doesn't work, but back when it did I couldn't watch any movies (too slow) and the keyboard is starting to fail me. Battery life is around 1 - 2 minutes on a full charge, and has been this way for over 2 years.
I need a new notebook on a student budget. For me, a notebook has to be a mobile desktop; I am looking for:

DVD / CD R/RW
Large HD (80GB, 100 preferably)
Fast (At least a 1.7GHZ, would like 1GB RAM)
15.4" screen.
$1900 tops, $1500 preferably.
Right now I am looking at the Sony VAIO FS675P/H. It has everything I want, but the 100GB hard drive is slow (4200RPM), the 1GB RAM is DDR, not DDR-2, and the graphics card uses shared memory, meaning it won't be very good for games (I haven't played video games in 4 years because my computer is not up to it, but it would be nice to be capable to run some once in a while).
On the other hand, it is a Sony, so I would be getting something a lot better quality and lighter than my Toshiba... I guess the main question is:
For this price, could I get something better?

Thanks

I stated my budget (1500 - 1900) and pasted a link to a Sony notebook that has what I am looking for and fits within that budget. Then I asked if anyone could suggest a notebook that will give me more performance for the same amount of money.
Thanks a lot for your useless post. Next time just type "12345" or "IBSomethingorother" so you can bump it up to the top and not look too much like an ass while doing it.

OK, lets try again since I am still hoping someone other than you will give me some decent advice.
Sony = better quality than my Toshiba. The battery on my current notebook has a life span of two minutes top. This after maybe 2 years of use. That is unacceptable. The screen sucks, the DVD drive doesn't work and the keyboard is horrible to type on.
The VAIO I posted is lightweight, would do a great job of replacing a desktop (large HD, big screen, good performance). It wouldn't be great for games, but, as I stated, that is not what I am after.
So, once again, does anyone have any suggestions other than the vaio? I looked at that Toshiba; nice, but I don't want another Toshiba.
